Interview with Dwayne Cameron (Bray)

C: How long have you been acting?

D: Altogether? Drama? Probably about six or seven years now.

C: And what made you get into it in the first place?

D: Its been a childhood dream I think. A lot of people in this industry see the magic that happens on screen and they think I want to do that. So yeah, I think that was it.

C: And working so closely with the same people every day, how well do you really get along?

D: Theres a special bond with the cast. Ive never seen it before in any other shows so its very much a family environment and Cloud 9s a very kind of family place, a family based production.

C: On stage you dont get along with Lex, but how do you and Caleb really get along?

D: Oh weve got along great from day one ( laughs ). I mean weve lived with each other for a year now and no real squabbles or anything. Its been good. Its been really good - hes a great guy.

C: One of the most asked questions from the fans is how was it for you kissing Beth Allen?

D: Shes a great actress. Shes good stuff. I loved working with her. It was neat. When we were in there doing our job it was good and when we saw the results we thought Hey, you know, those characters are going for it and it was quite special.

C: How many different people have you kissed on screen in The Tribe?

D: How many? 1,2,3oh, I dont know. There was Salene, Amber, Trudy tried it on with me. Oh theres a few little things coming up that could surprise people with certain characters

C: But if you werent playing Bray who in The Tribe would you like to play?

D: I think Jacks pretty cool. When I first read the character breakdowns and I didnt know which character I was going to be playing, I thought I was going to be Jack. I didnt realise he was meant to be a lot younger and now I can see the cast, I mean the cast is so great, so well picked, but Jack just his dry sense of humour, the way he can mock anything in every situation ( laughs ).

C: Do you prefer filming inside on a set or outside on location?

D: Location.

C: Is it a real mall or has it been created specifically for the show?

D: It has been created for the show. It looks quite large on screen. I know its the biggest in New Zealand

C: So whats your favourite animal to film with?

D: Bob. Bobs my favourite animal!

C; How often do you see your real family when you are filming?

D: About every 5 weeks.

C: Are there any other programmes that youve done that might screen on British TV?

D: Possibly William Shatners A Twist In The Tale

C: There you go Trbeworld. Look out for that one. If you werent an actor, which we hope doesnt happen, what would you like to be?

D: That is simple. Id be a director.

C: What do you think you and Bray have in common?

D: Quite a lot actually. I suppose were both kind of just good guys, if I could call myself a good guy. I mean hes a real leader and hes on a big, big mission and he wants to save the world so hes pretty full on - but so am I. I want to save the world too!

C: Someone has asked us if you like rugby and what team do you support?

D: I do like rugby. I played rugby for five years and then I got concussed five times in two seasons but thats kind of a sad thing. I support New Zealand, of course!

C: Did you get lots of cool presents for your birthday?

D: I got heaps of cool presents.

C: What did the cast buy you?

D: The cast got me a cell phone. Im a yuppie now!

C: Youve been recording the Tribe album now as well havent you?

D: Thats true.

C: And hows that?

D: Its fantastic. Im no Pavarotti but I try, I give it my best in anything I do and thats one thing I stick to - its whatever you do, do it 100% because you only get one shot at it.

C: You recorded some videos for the album as well. What was it like recording the video?

D: Well that was a first. On Friday theyre like Okay thats a wrap for todays scenes and on Monday youll be filming a video clip.

C: How do you remember all your lines?

D: I dont know. I dont know. Its just.. I dont know, everybody has there own little process. Some people can just (click) do it like that.

C: Another question from the e-mail just wondering how much spare time you have to read and reply to e-mails that the fans send?

D: We do receive fan mail and its very much appreciated. Thanks very much you guys. Its so its brilliant. Just too see that. See the response and know that something special was being made and you guys like it.

C: Okay, and the final question. Do you have a girlfriend, Dwayne?

D: No

C: And if you were looking for a girlfriend what would she be like?

D: Well Ill tell you and this is all honesty. This isnt just greasy grease. This is honesty. Its not the looks. Its someone that intrigues me. I find the mind very seductive. This is going to get pretty deep soon but ah( laughs ) I see someone I want to know, how they tick. If theyre kind of walking to their own beat, you know what I mean - they do things their own way. Im really intrigued by that.

C: Excellent. Thank you for talking to us.

D: Thank you very much Tribeworld!
