This next event didn't happen during Halloween but it could have just as easily been and would have just added to the comedy of it all.
Early one evening Mum had gone over to visit with neighbors across the road. I was at the house watching some tv. The lights in the living room were on when there was no mistaking what was flying back and forth from mum's bedroom to the living room. It was indeed a bat and wasn't the first one to have succeeded to get into the house in recent weeks.
Not really wanting the bat to feel unwelcomed I walked over to my neighbors where Mum was with a smile inside. Sat and chatted for a few minutes when I told Mum, "We have a visitor over at the house," She looked at me at asked, "Who?" Replying with a smile I said, "Another bat." She just rolled her eyes and kinda laughed right along with the neighbors having a chuckle. After a few minutes more of chatting with our neighbors Mum looked at me and said, "Well guess I have to go deal with this bat."
We got to the house and of course the bat is still cruising back and forth. Mum got the broom and managed to corral the bat in her bedroom and shut the door. She must have been in there for about 10 or 20 minutes when she called out for me, I went to the door and I heard her say "Go get a cup towel(Tea-towel) and come help me." So I did as she asked.
