Savannah Lawyer/League of My Own
Born in the southern US state of Louisiana, SavannahLawyer after graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Law  and eventually made Savannah, Georgia her permanent home.  Championing for women and children she was a passionate advocate with the Law firm she was associated with in Savannah.

Her mentor, idol and guide, Georgiagirl, had a deep impact on her.  For all intents and purposes they could have been mother and daughter given how much alike they were. The sense I got was that they were like two peas in a pod. They spent many hours sailing together, League loved sailing and being near water just as much as Georgiagril did.  Even League told me of the many late nights she and Georgiagirl would spend just talking and joking about. It was indeed a special bond that they shared.

When League and I first met online it was under unfortuante circumstances but from that grew a beautiful friendship. A bond that felt so much like we were sisters. She often told me how she felt that I was like the sister she never had.  To say the least I felt honored and blessed to have had the gift of her friendship

The picture to the left she told me was one of her favorites of all the pictures she had seen of my work.  Seems only fitting that this picture be part of this memorial page.

The sister I came to love and admire was not only beautiful on the outside, she was beautfiul on the inside. Very loyal and and private she had a wit and sense of humor about her that at first surprised me but I came to love. Without fail, anytime we would talk on the phone she would have me laughing and that was a gift I truly enjoyed and treasure to this day.

In becoming sisters she also helped me to come to know my friend Georgiagirl on a deeper level than I had before Georgiagirl made her
transition.

Of the many hours we spent chatting, getting to know one another the two most fondest memories I have are the times we spent in a yahoo club playing trivia and the other was the many songs League would tell me about and send me hunting for.  Music was just as important to League as it has been for me, soothing to our souls.

League was another one of my friends who I came to see as being a woman of strength and a mind of her own. There were certainly  days when the words force to be reckoned with would cross my mind when I thought of her.  And yet her support is one of the things that one could not help but appreciate.

There is no doubt that you and Georgiagirl are once again peas in the pod
in your other life.  However what remains here on earth are you loved ones who miss you dearly and will never let their memories of you fade.

The lyrcis below are from a song that League loved very much, one of many songs. Needless to say it speaks to validity of who my friend League was, for she was indeed in a League of her own. The song is called "No One Like You" by Sarah Brightman
And we too ... will it not be soft and kind
That rest from life, from patience and from pain
The rest from bliss we know we will not find
How can I have enough of life and love
(quietly sung)

In your eyes are my secrets that I've never shown you
In my heart I feel I've always known you
In your arms there's a comfort I never knew
You're what I've been waiting for, there's no one like you

Sure as the sunrise, pure as a prayer
You fashioned hope right out of thin air
Ev'ry dream I've abandoned, seems it could come true
I believe in miracles, there's no one like you

Innocent as a newborn in a world so frightening
It's as if my world has been struck by lighning
Ev'ry dream I've abandoned, seems it could come true
I believe in miracles, there's no one like you
