but as soon as I saw it the object was gone. Of course I thought my eyes might be playing tricks on me. The next morning I mentioned to Mum that I thought maybe there was a mouse in the house. Mum said there could be. A few days later one early evening Mum was sitting at the kitchen table when all of a sudden I heard her saying , "#@*!" ....I looked at her and said, "What?" She said a mouse had just run acrossed her foot and scurried out the kitchen door and down to the basement. Needless to say it was a sure thing we had a mouse in the house and the next course of action was to dig out the mousetraps.
One day I was in the bathroom and looked to my amazement to watch a mouse running by the bathroom door and behind the dryer. Of course there was no way I was staying in the same room with a brazen mouse running about.
Early one evening, a few days later, I was sitting in the living room watching tv when the silence was broken with loud resounding snap by the fireplace where Mum had set one of the traps. The snap startled me so badly I jumped up to what felt like a couple of feet in the air. Thinking we'd caught the unwanted visitor we thought we had the house to ourselves again. Unfortunately we were wrong, all told that fall we ended up trapping 6 mice before we figured out the source of their entering the house. One small little hole by the basement window where the garden hose had been used because it's original source was in the basement. And once that hole was sealed there were no more mice escapades that fall. |
