Picture of a USAF F-18 in the aim of an Egyptian MiG-21, during Bright Star '85
This is a major accomplishment for both the Pilot Col Adel El-Kholy as well as the Mig 21. The MiG 21 is a Russian fighter/escort designed by Mikoyan Gurvich in 1955! With a design that old it was still able to score a kill on the USAF F-18 which in 1985 was brand new. Even more credit must be given to the pilot. He was able to take his MiG into a low speed dogfight with an F-18 and come out victorious. This was even more amazing in that the F-18's specialty is low speed combat.

My regards to the great pilots of the EAF. This is a great example of the high skill and training of EAF pilots.

Bright Star is a training exercise regularly carried out by the EAF along with the USA, Greece, France, Britain, and Italy.
