Legal Issues & Court Cases -affecting- Sex Offenders (LICCASO) is a web site that provides information concerning sex offenders. We cover topics, issues, pending and historical court cases, and consequences facing, adult and juvenile sex offenders, in prison and LifeAfter in society.
We cover sex offender registries, recidivism and dangerousness, subtle vigilantism, therapy, civil commitment, community issues; and, the United Nations human rights issues, with news articles and court cases.
While our function keeps folks updated, it also educates advocates, criminal justice and mental health professionals, and public policy decision makers, and the offenders their families and friends. Our mission of education is accomplished through our deeper purpose.
--- Our Deeper Purpose ---
Our deeper purpose centers around the spirit and fundamental meaning and intent of the United Nations, Declaration of Human Rights which we believe is being grossly violated by the laws that have been, and are being, enacted to control previously convicted sex offenders.
While we do recognize the past acts of these offenders, and do not in any way condone or minimize them, nor do we try to justify them, yet we realize they are now embedded in history. In order for the healing process to begin, for society, the victims, the offenders and their families, society must create an environment conducive to healing and restoration. Such an environment has followed every major war, and today society needs to rebuild itself; creating a LifeAfter Sex Abuses.
Unfortunately many folks are stuck in the hatred, the vindictiveness, the further retribution, the "separate them from us mentality" the colonization of the sex offender; societal relagation. This isolationism -a division of sorts- is precisely what perpetuates abuses, and society at large hasn't recognized this. Today's laws are perpetuating isolationism preventing healing, and in the process erode fundamental rights of everyone.
Our deeper purpose leans toward "exposing myths and misconceptions," and "uncovering and revealing what masks truths about sex offenders," to enable understanding, promote healing and stop the witch-hunting of sex offenders that causes them to go into isolation, which furthers the cycle of abuses.
Society in general does not realize what they are doing, in the name of public safety, is actually making matters worse. The hysteria caused by mis-information about sex offenders is fueling vigilantism, protests, media frenzy, and even much of the feel-good legislation, all tends to drive the untreated sex offender underground into deeper isolationism.
Society feels it should, divide and isolate themselves from sex offenders, when that very act perpetuates the abuse cycle. This has been recognized by many psychiatrists. So our deeper purpose is to show society the errors caused by mis-information, and to integrate sex offenders into mainstream society, rather than isolate them to a place where sex abuses occur.

We regard visitor's privacy and anonymity as one of our most important functions. We do not rent, sell or in any way exchange the e-mail addresses that we may receive from inquiries.
