RE-ARRANGING LINEAR EQUATION TO SLOPE-INTERCEPT FORM

Use the steps you need from this example.

Given 7X - 3Y + 2 = 0

First ISOLATE -3Y by adding/subtracting the same quantities from both sides:

7X - 7X - 3Y - 2 + 2 = 0 - 7X + 2

Rewrite omitting eliminated terms

- 3Y = - 7X + 2

Divide through by the coefficient of Y

-3Y/-3 = - 7X/-3 + 2/-3

Simplify:

Y = 7X/3 - 2/3

Note: In this equation, m is 7/3 and the Y-intercept is - 2/3
