BOARD-WIDE EXAMS FOR MCF3M AND MCR3U
Beginning January 2003 each of MCF3M and MCR3U will have its own board wide exam for all students enrolled in these courses. All students in the board will write the 2 hour exam at their own school on the same day at the same time. This exam will comprise 25% of the course mark. (A further 5% of the summative mark will come from an in-class assessment on the Financial Applications portion of the course. Financial Application questions will not be included on the board-wide exam.)
The teachers writing the exam come from a cross section of OCDSB schools and include users of every approved text.
It is strongly recommended that students obtain a copy of the
EXEMPLAR BOOKLET FOR GRADE 11 MATHEMATICS COURSES
MCF3M and MCR3U
For the OCDSB
There are two ways to obtain this booklet:
General Information
Publications and Fact Sheets
Quality Assurance
*It is strongly recommended that the student have a hard copy of the Exemplar Booklet available at school to facilitate discussion and understanding of the exam expectations. This should help students make good preparation and should also help to alleviate concern about what the exam will be like and how it will be marked.
The exemplar booklet contains:
--the list of topics to be included in the course and the exam
--the rubric and worked problems with correct and incorrect examples explaining the marking of Technical Correctness and Presentation.
--the formula sheet to be provided to students on the exam
--Question Bank and Sample Solutions
