(Cut to a clip from what is obviously a handheld camera. It is what appears to be a large gym at a wrestling school. One of the students lays on the mat while another, dressed in a tight black shirt and black pants with black pads covering his forearm and elbow and with long dark blond hair with black streaks in it, stands on the top rope. "Bring the Noise" by Limp Bizkit and Staind begins playing as we see him spin so he has his back to the ring and then he leaps off with a beautiful moonsault. The music gets a little quieter as we here an announcer with a voice over) "He is a member of one of the most famous wrestling families in the world." (The same man is seen standing facing the ring this time. He leaps off onto a different man with a shooting star kneedrop) "He has been called one of the most unbelievable humans to step into a ring." (We see yet another young wrestler on the mat as this time the same man come off the top with a corkscrew moonsault) "He also has been called one of the most insane." (This time we see him finish climbing to the top of a set of bleachers in a gymnasium. He steps over the railing at the top and the camera catches a look down at what appears to be about a 16 foot drop. He then leaps off with a swandive somersault senton which finds it's mark, another wrestler laid out on a table below.) "He is Robbie McGill, and he is coming to EWC." (Fade out on a shot of McGill laying in the heap below on top of the other wrestler and the destroyed table) @@@@@@@@@@@@@@ *********************************** @ Camera Cut @************************************* @@@@@@@@@@@@@@ I tell ya, Cross, Robbie McGill looks like a great piece of talent and one I'm sure would make a great addition to the EWC roster. I've seen better looking heads on a glass of Budweiser. But he's facing one of the most underrated athletes in EWC and, don't forget, the *current* North American champion, "Stunning" Stevie Mauritz. Underrated though he may be, he's also inexperienced, and one has to wonder if lightning can strike a third time, ESPECIALLY against a fired up Omega and TWO referees this time watching, instead of one. Well, two referees or not, the onus is on Omega. He's the one who has to pin Mauritz or make him submit, not the other way around. Stevie could just turn and walk or get himself blatantly disqualified, and still retain the title. ///-----\\\ | PA System | "You're UN-BE-LIEV-A-BLE!" \\\-----/// (BOOOOOOOOOM! goes the pyro and fireworks, and out struts Stevie Mauritz, wearing the title around his waist and looking as arrogant as ever. Walking down the aisle, he stops to berate a female fan who tried to touch his back, saying "HANDS OFF THE PRIME MERCHANDISE!" He gets to ringside and tells both referees to keep Omega back) And "Stunning" Stevie ALREADY working the referee's in this match. Give him credit, one of the first books he read was on how to be a sneaky cheat and live to tell about it. Mauritz didn't quite write the book, but he certainly stole the first edition. And I'm sure he's telling Magnum out there to keep an eye out for Omega's tricks. He's the one who's desperate. He's the one with something to prove. Stevie Mauritz knocked Omega off his high horse, and he'd do anything to get it back. The in-ring referee is senior official Gerald Riley, the outside official is Terry Magnum, both men very no-nonsense when it comes to putting up with shenanigans in there. Omega stretching in the corner as Mauritz is taking his sweet time getting into the ring. Um....were we watching the same match last time, Cross? Magnum let a lot of things go in that Light Heavyweight three-way that a more hard-nosed referee would have quashed immediately. Mauritz just wants to make sure nothing like that happens this time around. And quite frankly, neither do I! Having one wrestler barely miss me with the ring bell is one thing. If another one tries it, I'm filing for hazard pay! Mauritz finally in the ring now, as the bell sounds, both men circling each other, and Omega goes for a tieup, but the "Stunning" one sticks his head out of the ring and tells Magnum he better be on the ball tonight. And judging by the way the last match was handled, I don't blame him! One thing you also need to remember is if something happens and Riley goes down, Magnum becomes the official of record. So who knows what other kind of judgment calls might go the wrong way if that happens. They finally lock up, collar and elbow, and Mauritz with an armtwist right into an armdrag takedown, good basic move by Mauritz, Stevie now trying to settle in with that armbar...kip up by Omega, and now it's Omega with an armtwist, and he goes for a short arm clothesline that Stevie ducks. Stevie now with a go-behind waistlock, and THAT'S reversed by Omega, and Damien with a belly to back suplex, nice, solid series from both men. Stevie showing he's no slouch in the technical skills department. Definitely not his strongest point, but he can wrestle when he has to. He's not just a sneaky cheat. Mauritz slow in getting to his feet, he's definitely trying to control the pace, and now Mauritz with a drop toehold, and he slides into a side headlock. I have to admit, I've seen more wrestling out of Stevie in this first minute or two than I've seen to date in his career. Well, it's no secret his career has been on an upswing since he dumped Tommy B. Cool and the "cool dude" gimmick. Now there's nothing holding him back, he can be the man he really is, and that is one very talented and I still say very underrated wrestler. Omega rolls over, putting Stevie on his back, count of TWO...Stevie rolls back over into the headlock position. I have to say, even though Mauritz is doing OK with his mat skills, he's not going to touch Omega in that regard...he needs to use his strengths here. It's like I told you before, Cross, this Maruitz is a totally changed man. I mean, who knows what he's been doing in the gym since the breakup of 2 Cool Dudes. This could very well *be* a strength for him by now, and we just don't know it. Omega getting to his feet, and he sends Mauritz to the ropes, and Mauritz knocks him down with a shoulderblock. Mauritz now bounding off the ropes again, and Omega with his own drop toehold into a side headlock, and now it's Omega's turn to work on Stevie for a bit. It looked like there was a bit of a hair pull on that headlock by Omega, Cross. I guess Magnum didn't see it. But no matter - Mauritz will find an escape, either the hard way or the cheap way. Oh, give me a break. There was no hair pull at all. Mauritz, however, manages to get his foot on the ropes, and Omega, as expected, with a clean break...and Mauritz now sliding out of the ring and trying to pull that hair- pull mularkey on Terry Magnum! This is ridiculous! See? Mauritz felt it, I saw it, Magnum either missed it or deliberately ignored it! I can't believe you missed it either, Cross. Mauritz slowly comes back in the ring...and he's asking Omega for a test of strength. Is it just me, or is Stevie trying to do everything in there BUT what he's good at? It's like a baseball pitcher that throws just fastballs, Cross. Sooner or later the hitters will catch onto it. Omega's been in two matches already with Stevie. He knows what he likes to do and how he does it, so Mauritz is throwing him a change-up and maybe a slider to keep him off balance. Omega obliges with the test of strength, and now both men are locked up in an old-school indian-style wrestling match...and Mauritz converts it into a monkey flip, and again, I love Omega's attitude, but after being screwed twice by Mauritz you'd think he'd be a bit more wary. Hey, there was nothing wrong at all with that monkey flip, Cross. That was a perfectly legal move and I'll agree one that Omega should have expected. But those first two battles with Mauritz obviously have him back on his heels. Omega right up after that, though, and a roundhouse kick that Stevie ducks, now Stevie with a backfist that Omega ducks under, Omega trying for a legsweep, but Stevie jumps OVER it, and WOW, Omega had Stevie dead to rights with a savate kick, but Stevie choosing to bail out yet again. Mauritz showing sound strategy - picking his spots, sliding out when he senses he's in trouble, making Omega play the waiting game. Omega came out ready to rock 'n roll, but Mauritz playing it slow and letting Omega stew over it. Mauritz now again talking to Terry Magnum here, and OMEGA with a baseball slide dropkick sends Mauritz flying into the ringside barrier. *CROWD POP* Omega now grabbing Stevie's legs and slingshoting him headfirst into the ring apron. This is the new, slightly turned up aggression of Damien Omega, and the fans are into it! And this is exactly what Mauritz was hoping *wouldn't* happen! Magnum is just standing there on the outside and letting Omega pound on Mauritz outside the ring! He should be right in there threatening to disqualify Damien unless he gets back in the ring immediately! Omega now rolling Stevie into the ring, then following. Omega with an irish whip into the ropes, Omega leapfrogs, then follows Stevie in for a rollup on the rebound...Stevie reverses with a pull on the tights, count of one...two....thr, NO! Magnum stopped Riley's count, pointing out the tights, and Stevie's saying "What tights?" Yeah, right! Well, that was a little bit to obvious on the part of Mauritz. Magnum was looking right at him when he tried that tights pull. And now Mauritz not playing too smart and aruing with Riley. Mauritz turns away from Riley and RIGHT INTO A ROUNDHOUSE KICK from Omega, and Stevie went down hard. Cover by Omega, one..two....throoooh that one was almost a keeper. Y'know, I think Mauritz was more shocked than rocked by that kick from Omega. Fortunately for him, he recovered just in time to get the left shoulder up. Omega now drives the knee into the mat with a posthole, and Omega putting on an anklelock submission hold on Stevie, and that hold will make someone seriously consider throwing it in for the night. Now Omega starting to implement *his* gameplan, and just like always, it's the same ol' fastball right over the plate. Work on the legs, set up for the Omega Lock, yadda yadda yadda. No surprises. Nothing new. You've seen one Damien Omega match, you've seen 'em all. Mauritz hanging in there, we're approaching the sixty second mark in terms of when the hold was applied..and Stevie getting his other leg in there and kicking Omega away. Omega bounces off the ropes, and Stevie scooping him up right into a samoan drop, good move by the champion. Omega telegraphed that one a little bit, and the champ puts him down with a perfectly legal wrestling move! The champ keeping it by the books, and by my scorecard, he's ahead on points. Mauritz now off the ropes with an Asai moonsault, but Omega getting the knees up, he had that move scouted. Cover by Omega, one, TWO, two only, Mauritz finding the wind to kick out of that one. Omega now moving into a reverse bow and arrow hold here, or a crossbow, whichever you prefer, and kneeling back so that Mauritz is suspended in the air. Now this is a hold that could land you in the chiropractor's office for months, Cross. The knee in the shoulder blades, pulling back on the arms, and leaning back like that just adds more leverage and pressure. Omega knows about 300 different ways to cripple a man using submission holds, it's only his character that prevents him from doing so, and Mauritz should be thankful for that. Omega now releasing the hold, I have to say, Mauritz didn't tap out right away, he hung in there. And sometimes, that's all you have to do - just hang in there. And you praise Omega's character like it's honorable, Cross. That just goes to show how little you know. It's a sign that he has no killer instinct. If he sees an opponent take a huge fall and seriously twist a knee or the like, he won't move in for the kill. He'll let him get up and give him a "fighting chance". I'm surprised no one has suckered him in by that tactic yet. Omega with a kneedrop right to the leg of Mauritz, and another, as Omega is now settling into his basic gameplan - work and weaken the legs and the back. Omega with an elbowdrop to the back, and now he's signaling for the Omegalock! Too soon, Cross. Way too soon for the Omega Lock. Omega's got him turned over, but Mauritz DOVE for those ropes, and he's holding on for dear life...but Omega yanks him out by the legs and he falls HARD on the back. Omega trying for it again, and UN FOUL by Stevie Mauritz, as he just planted that boot right into Omega's family jewels. Now see? Where was Magnum when Mauritz had a hold of the ropes? He should have stepped in and ordered Omega to break the hold! I tell ya, if I were Stevie, I'd go out there and smack Magnum around a bit. For the second match in a row, he's not playing fair with his calls. Mauritz now staggering to his feet, and he comes off the ropes with a flying forearm that sends Omega out to the concrete. And that "un foul" as you call it was completely accidental. If the roles were reversed and Stevie had Omega in that position, you'd give Omega the pass on the low blow. Omega gets up, and Mauritz going for a baseball slide..Omega sidesteps it, and meets Stevie outside with a HARD forearm smash, and another, and now Damien Omega with a whip sends Stevie backfirst into the ringpost. Omega going for the HANDSPRING ELBOW, and Stevie dodges!!! Omega's elbow met nothing but steel! And the first thing Omega did when he hit the floor is clutch that elbow, Cross! And Mauritz saw it! Now you're going to see what someone with a killer instinct can to do a wounded opponent! Mauritz hammerlocks Omega, and bodyslams him on the concrete, with that arm between the floor and the body! He unceremoniously tosses Omega back into the ring, and now Mauritz with a clear look of anger laying stomps on the body and injured arm of Damien Omega That's what a killer instinct will do for you, Cross. And can you really blame Stevie for being upset? Terry Magnum has been far from impartial in this match. Omega getting to his feet, firing a right forearm at Stevie, but Mauritz elbowsmashes Omega's arm, and now he puts it in a hammerlock and rams it, and him, into the turnbuckle. Mauritz now has the arm, and a springboard armdrag brings Omega over, and Stevie now bending that arm backwards into a hammerlock while sitting on Omega. Mauritz buying a little time here while still keeping the pressure on Omega. And he's buying some time by keeping the submission master down on the mat. Omega has Mauritz outweighed by about 30 pounds or so, but Mauritz knows how to use his weight to the best possible advantage. Even so, Omega still finding ways to get to his feet here, he backs Stevie to the ropes and sends him for the ride, Omega going for a low slide kick, but Stevie dodged it, and double stomps Omega right in the gut! And there's another example of using your weight in a smart way. 225 pounds of North American Champion right in the breadbasket of Omega! Mauritz now setting the arm on the ring ropes, tries to double stomp it, Omega yanks the arm away! Mauritz now visibly flustered, he goes for a stomp on Omega's body, OMEGA REVERSES IT INTO A DRAGON SCREW! *CROWD POP* Omega rolled with that, and now he's got a half Boston Crab applied using his good arm while he's shaking out the damaged one. And that is experience at work! Exactly as Stevie was doing just a few minutes ago. But unlike Stevie the effects of the attack on Omega's arm are beginning to show. This hold would be far more effective if he could use both arms to pull back on that leg, but he's down to just a one-armed attack for the moment. Mauritz managing to get to the ropes AGAIN, this kid has more escapes than Copperfield. Omega waiting for Mauritz to get up, and a series of martial arts kicks sends Mauritz reeling. Now another whip, Omega with a backdrop, and Mauritz lands on his feet, BAM! *crowd ooh* Mauritz with a VICIOUS superkick that dropped Omega like a stone. And that kick was a rocker, Cross, square under the chin. With enough force behind it, you could easily snap someone's neck back and give him whiplash. Mauritz covers, count of one, count of two, no dice, Omega's still standing. Stevie picks him up for a bodyslam, but instead hits a shoulder breaker, and Stevie right back on him, goes for a vertical suplex, lifts him up, and throws him straight back down right onto his arm. And the champ showing he's no weakling - picking up Omega once for the shoulder breaker and again for that armbuster suplex. And he sent the ex- champ crashing down with some authority. Stevie Mauritz used Omega's own weight against him that time, and now Stevie locks on the crossface chicken wing, he's got Omega a decent ways away from the ropes! Superb hold by the champion! You want to talk about mixing up your arsenal? There's a prime example! Would you have ever expected to see this hold from Mauritz? No! All you think he is is a no-good low-life cheater. But now who has who on the brink of submission? Omega trying to get out of it, but Stevie's holding on for all he's worth...referee checking on Damien Omega, but he's not tapping yet. He won't tap out, Cross. He's got too much pride at stake. He's already been embarrassed twice by Stevie Mauritz. If he gives up now, he'll never live it down! He'd be too embarrased to ever show his face in public again!......well, not that there's anything *wrong* with that. Referee checking again, and it looks like Stevie's cut off enough of Damien's circulation that he's starting to pass out....the arm drops once........it drops twice...... Looks like he won't *have* to give up..... NO! *crowd pop* Omega is still holding on. Omega with a lot of fight left in him, and he's trying to get to his feet! He may have some fight left, but this chicken wing has taken a lot of it out of him. It's going to be an uphill struggle to stand up. Mauritz keeping the pressure on with that hold. He's on his knees, he's trying to get up...and Mauritz pulled the hair to drag him back down! Riley taking Mauritz to task, but he's denying it... and Magnum forces him to break the hold, he caught the hairpull from outside! Oh hairpull schmairpull! Magnum being a pain in the butt out there, calling every little ticky-tack thing Mauritz does....yeah, that's it, Stevie! You tell 'im! Mauritz picking Omega up by the hair, and an enziguri sending Omega facefirst into the turnbuckle! Mauritz charges in with an elbowsmash to the back of the head, and now he's setting Omega up on the top rope. And Mauritz taking a moment to do that cocky strut of his to the fans. It ain't cockiness if you can back it up, Cross. He's the North American champion, he's the man tonight, and he's letting everyone else know it! Mauritz up there with him, possible superplex...no, Mauritz jumps WITH OMEGA into an inverted atomic drop! Omega is down, and in pain. Mauritz with a cover, count of one, COUNT OF TWO, COUNT OF...NO! Omega still in this! Just *barely* in it, Cross! He was on the verge of unconsciousness with that chicken wing, and no doubt it's taking a while for the blood to rush back into his head. And considering the size of Omega's head, that task will take longer than most. Stevie up, bodyslam on Omega, and now Stevie with a standing moonsa.. *crowd pop* Omega got his shoulders up, and both men are down! Down, yes, but Omega *far* worse for the wear in there. Stevie just had the wind knocked out of him, he's all right, he can get up any time he wants to. Omega, on the other hand, will likely have to pull himself up by the ring ropes. Count now is at five, both men trying to get to their feet. The first man up is going to go a long way towards winning this match, Omega up at 8, Mauritz at 9. Shot to the sternum by Omega, followed by a forearm to the jaw, and Damien winced when he hit that, that was the arm Stevie's been working, and he used it on instinct, and that may have flared the injury. Not just this match, Cross, but also in their last meeting. Mauritz worked over that arm, then Ronnie Frown worked it over later that night. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that arm wasn't quite 100% when this match started. Omega in the corner, high kick, low kick, spin kick right to the gut doubles Stevie over, and Omega comes off the ropes with a jumping ax kick that levels Stevie, cover, one, two, STEVIE KICKS OUT! Lot of fight left in this kid. Both men putting on a show of toughness and endurance for this contest, but something tells me he has a bit more gas in the tank than Omega does. He's in slightly better phuysical condition than Omega, plus he hasn't absorbed quite the punishment Omega has. Omega now sends Mauritz for the ride, roundhouse kick DUCKED by Stevie, and Stevie off the ropes, cross body ride, we have one, we have two, WE HAVE THREE!!!! YES! It wasn't a spectacular move, but it was an effective one! The champ retains the title, and he did it by *out-wrestling* Damien Omega! Hold on, Magnum in there, he said Stevie was holding the tights! WHAT??? That's a total load of....that was a clean pin! I didn't see any tights pulled, you didn't see it either, Cross....but I can't believe Riley is buying it! He's ordering the match continue! This is ridiculous! We've got the video replay here from another angle...and wouldn't you know, there it is! Oh come ON!!! How can you call that a tights pull??? All Stevie did was have his hand on Omega's.....well.....whatever he was doing, he *didn't* have a handful of tights! "Stunning" Stevie Mauritz is LIVID in there, he can't believe this. He's in Magnum's face, and Terry Magnum is having none of..OMEGA WITH AN ENZIGURI, AND STEVIE CRASHES INTO TERRY MAGNUM!!!! Now *there's* dirty pool for ya! First of all attacking Stevie Mauritz from behind, this from someone who prides himself on sportsmanship and fair play. And then by *deliberately* knocking Mauritz into Terry Magnum! They way Magnum's been calling things tonight, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he overrides Riley and disqualifies the champ for "blatantly attacking" him!....although Mauritz *would* keep the belt, so it wouldn't be a *total* injustice... Magnum fell out of the ring and hit his head hard on the concrete, meanwhile, Omega with a schoolboy rollup, we have one, we have two, we have thrroh my god, that was close!!! Damien Omega was a clocktick away from becoming the North American Champion. And there's your "role model" for ya! He had a fistfull of trunks on that roll-up, and he *knew* Magnum was down and wouldn't catch it! You want to talk about stolen victories, we almost had one right there! Thank goodness Mauritz was able to roll his way out of it. Magnum back up now as Damien grabs Stevie's leg and falls backward into what I'd call a single LEG DDT, jamming Stevie's leg into the mat. He waits for Stevie to get up...and a dropkick to the knee puts Stevie back on his knees. Was it just me or did Mauritz seem to land a bit awkward on that leg crusher? I mean, I don't think the leg was meant to bend that way! Omega with a bodyslam setup, and he ties Stevie to the Tree of Reality, and I think Stevie Mauritz is about to learn what it means to be REAL! *CROWD POP* HANDSPRING ELBOW INTO THE CORNER!!!! And that went right for the knee! What it means to be real *hurt*, Cross. Those knee ligaments were being stretched to the max just from hanging upside down, now the blow of the elbow on top of that. Stevie's got to be in some serious pain. Mauritz fell out of the corner from the impact, and Omega is practically stalking him right now...RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP, and he floats over into a pin...we have one, two... HIS FOOT'S ON THE ROPE!!! REFEREE HITS THREE!!! WE HAVE A NEW NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION!!! The *HELL* we have a new champ! Stevie Mauritz got his foot across the bottom rope at two and a half! If Terry Magnum has *any* ethics or any credibility at all, he'll get right up and tell Riley to restart this match again! And that *better* be what he's climbing into the ring to do. Magnum in the ring now, and he's telling Riley that Mauritz did have his foot on the ropes, and it's true, what's sauce for the goose, etc, etc. Omega waiting for Stevie to get up, another Dragon Screw...NO! Enziguri by Stevie flattens Omega. Flattened him harder than Bubby Brister on the receiving end of a pass rush. And now Mauritz pointing to the ropes! He could be looking to end it here.... Stevie on the outside waiting for Omega to get up...Omega's up, and Stevie with the "Ratings Grabber" Slingshot Rana...and OMEGA REVERSES IT INTO A POWERBOMB!!! *CROWD POP* OMEGA PULLS HIM TO CENTER RING BY THE LEGS, AND HE'S SIGNALING FOR THE OMEGALOCK!!! Oh man, I don't know where Omega pulld that counter from, but that powerbomb may have stunned the Stunning enough to keep him down long enough for Omega to completely put on the hold! Omega wraps the legs in a sharpshooter position, and bridges back for the chinlock, and he's got it on! He's got Mauritz dead to rights! And this capacity crowd at the Pepsi Center is on its feet! They know what this hold means, and so does Mauritz! He's doing all he can to fight off the pressure. Mauritz not tapping out, but he's center ring, so he's got nowhere to go, unless he can pull another trick out of his bag, he's gotta give or pass out sooner or later! He's trying to inch his way closer to the ropes, Cross. He's still got a ways to go, but every little inch brings him closer to getting out of this predicament. Omega holding on for dear life here, he's trying to win back a title he held with honor for over six months, that was more or less stolen from him on a cheap tactic win by Mauritz a few weeks ago. Mauritz, to his credit, has given Omega almost everything in his arsenal and then some, and he's still in the match, but for how long? I'll tell ya, he's hung on a lot longer than Omega or almost anyone else has expected. I don't know if Omega has the patience or the will-power to keep that hold on him all night, but Mauritz doing all he can to force him to! Mauritz in that hold for almost 3 minutes now, win or lose, he's shown something here tonight. He looks as if he's about ready to pass out. Omega cinching the hold in more... *DING DING DING* Whoa, what happened? Is it over? The bell has sounded, Mauritz looks out in there! It sounded, yes, but what's the decision? I didn't see Mauritz tap out or say "I quit". Did Riley declare him unable to continue? Hell, did *Magnum* declare him unable to continue? Did Omega get the belt back? WHAT??? Both referee's are in the ring, consulting....they're calling it a time limit draw!!! TIME LIMIT??? You never said anything about a time limit on this match, Cross! That match had a 30 minute time limit, it went the distance, I thought for sure Mauritz had passed out, but he beat the timer! Folks, in the event of a draw, the champion stays champion, so Stevie Mauritz...I can't believe I'm saying this...has RETAINED the North American title. Believe it, Cross. And mark my words, you'll be saying it a lot more in the weeks to come! Stevie Mauritz has officially arrived in the big time in my book. And he's proven he doesn't have to resort to short cuts to keep the North American belt. Well, the fact is Omega had him dead to rights, in fact, Omega is standing in the ring while Mauritz is being CARRIED back to the dressing room from pain and exhaustion. Mauritz may still hold the title, but you can bet that Omega isn't going to stop going after him. He knows with five more minutes on that time limit, he would have had the submission! Five more minutes nothing, Cross. The moment he saw that Mauritz was as good as out, he should have dropped the hold and gone for a pin. But no, Omega is *so* single-minded, he *has* to win by submisison every single time, and that compulsiveness is what cost him the North American championship tonight. We're going to do a quick announcer changeover here, in the meantime, check out this neat bit of information about some upcoming events in the EWC!
