This site is dedicated to my Dad, Eugene (1928 - 2002), who inspired me to continue with his quest to reunite our long lost family from China. He passed away not able to realize his life long objective in locating his eldest sister who was separated from him and has never seen since childhood. Chances of locating her or living relatives she may have is close to impossible and may take only a miracle in realizing this.
My grandfather is Chia Eng (Lim Chia Eng) born on January 10, 1900 in Xiamen (Amoy) China. He came to the Philippines on June 27, 1919.
During that time, Chinese nationals were obliged to have a filipino name upon marriage. Thus, the Christian name Severo Purugganan borrowed from a name of their god-father in marriage Judge Purugganan of Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Philippines.
When my grandfather visited China at my Dad's early age, he brought with him his eldest daughter, and left her in China with his parents. The family in the Philippines never saw her again since then. |
