Erez Modai was the first native Israeli to work as counsel in the international section of IAI's Legal deprtment, where he served for a few years.
Mr. Modai's primary responsibility was to to protect IAI's interests in international transactions in IAI's principle area of expertise - Aerospace and defence.
As a member of a small dedicated team, Erez Modai was in charge of the very complicated set of agreements, which embodied IAI's ERP system purchase and implementation. The project represented an aggregate expenditure of some 50 million dollars.
After the successful completion of the ERP transactions, Erez Modai was put in charge of all major hardware and software purchase transactions. In this capacity Erez Modai further increased his experience and understanding of high-tech business, in negotiating various deals with the Israeli subsidiaries of Microsoft, IBM, HP and other international giants.
Later Erez Modai was the focal point of IAI's Logistics and Acquisition organization. As such Erez prepared tenders and requests for information and proposals (RFIs and RFPs), drafted and negotiated numerous supplier contracts and participated in negotiations with suppliers from all over the worled.
Over the years Erez Modai has accumulated some fifteen hundred hours of face to face cross-culture negotiotion experience with companies such as Boeing, Sikorsky, Pratt and Whitney, EADS, British Aerospace and FIAT as well as authorities in some 30 countries in four continents.
Negotiating various types of transactions, including sale and purchase of hardware and software, technological and commercial cooperation, knowledge transfer and IP licenses, Erez Modai has developed a good understanding of international trade and in particular, its legal arrangements.
In previous positions Mr. Modai did corporate and security law work, and gained court room experience (including two class actions).
Skills
Taking part in complex negotiation of multi-million dollar deals, requires not only perfect command of all legal and juro-financial aspects, but also profound understanding of the business, the technology but moreover - of the many and diverse culture gaps to be bridged in order to achieve the deals.
Conversing, drafting and typing nearing native-language-proficiency in English, and speaking other languages, allows business oriented Erez Modai to effectively overcome language barriers and get across creative solutions while preserving cooperative spirit.
His work in the ERP project as well as in other programs has earned Erez Modai several letters of appreciation and reccommendation.
Education
Erez Modai has graduated the Executive MBA course of the Tel Aviv University prestegious Reccanatti Business School . Erez Modai received his first academic degree in law (Ll.B.) from the Buchman Law Faculty of the Tel Aviv University.
Mr. Modai has been a member of the Israel Bar of Lawyers since 1997.
Erez Modai participated International Transaction and High-Tech Law courses, held by the Institute for Lawyer Education by the Tel Aviv University.
Mr. Modai was also among the top 5 in the advanced Spanish course of the Tel Aviv University Language School.
