1. Beauty and the Beast
This is my favorite movie of all time! It has been my favorite movie since i was about 4 years old. I used to have it on DVD but it got severely scratched after watching it so many times so a good friend of mine bought it for me on VHS so that it wouldn't get scratched anymore. The movie is about a young lady named Belle and her adventures in an enchanted castle. At first, she despises the castle and its master, the beast, but after awhile, she learns to like it and falls in love with the beast. Their love for each other breaks the spell cursing the castle and turns everyone back to human. Once everyone is human again, Belle and the beast get married and live happily ever after.
2. Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo is another one of my favorite animated features. I saw this movie around the time it first came out on DVD with my cousin, Jackie. Finding Nemo is one of those movies that everyone, of all ages, can enjoy. Even teenagers and parents give good reviews on this movie. I think that the thing most people enjoy about Finding Nemo is its cuteness and good story line. The movie is about a father clownfish named Marlin, who is in desperate seach of finding his son, Nemo after being scooped up by a diver. The movie takes your through his search for Nemo in the dangers of the deep blue sea.
3. Save The Last Dance
Save The Last Dance was another one of my favorite movies around the time period it came out. The movie first grabbed my attention when the commercials first came out advertising a movie having something to do with dance. I love dancing, so I couldn't wait to watch this movie. The movie is about a young girl who is struggling with life after the death of her mother, forcing her to move into the urban cities of New York with her father. In her new setting, she begins learning that an easy way to adapt is through the language of dance, which happens to be one of Sara's main passions. In the end, she overcomes the stereotype and discriminations to become someone so much more than what anyone expected her to be.
4. Bring It On
Bring It On was one of my favorite movies because it's about one of my favorite pass-times, cheerleading. I've been a cheerleader since i was 7 years old, so it's something that I really enjoy doing and participating in. The movie is about two competiting cheerleading squads that are both trying to win the 1st place trophy at Nationals. The Clovers, a team from the urban city of Compton have tried numerous years in a row to make it big. However, The Torros make it harder for them to compete when the teams ex captain taught them everything they know. All of their material was stolen from the Clovers, so when Torrence becomes captain, she tries her best to make sure that everythings fair, nothings stolen, and that the Clovers "Bring It" at Nationals.
5. Schindler's List
Schindler's List was an excellent movie. I find the Holocaust to be one of the most horiffic but also one of the most interesting happenings in history. The movie was very sad. It was about what the Jewish people had to endure during the Holocaust. Schindler was a man of wealth at first. He was pretty much as bad as the typical German buisness man but he eventually learned to use his buisness as a way to help out the Jews who were suffering at the camps. Work in his facotries wasn't really "ideal" in the eyes of someone today but to the people in the Holocaust, they saw working for Schindler as an alternative option. Anything was better than spending the remainder of their lives at the brutal concentration camps. In the end, Schindler saved millions of Jews and died a good man.
6. Tomb Raider
I watched Tomb Raider on my birthday a few years ago. One of my favorite kinds of movies is adventure and Tomb Raider definetly gave me that while watching it. The movie is about a woman named Lara Croft who is determined to continue her fathers unfinished buisness. Lara could be considered fairly wealthy and a little bit of a brat but she later shows that there's so much more to her than being a spoiled brat. She begins her extensive search in trying to find "the cradle of life", something that could be used for great evil if it's not found and put into save hands and in the end succeeds in saving her life, and the world.
7. Man On Fire
Man On Fire was one of the best action films i've ever seen. Movies involving drugs and killing don't normally appeal to me but this one was different. It was about a man named Creasey, played by Denzel Washington, who was placed in charge of a young girl named Pita who was the daughter of a wealthy buisness man named Samuel, played by Marc Anthony. During the time period, there where many children being kidnapped and held hostage by drug lords and gang members. They would usually steal the child and hold them hostage until they received ransom money in return. Because of the crimes popularity, Creasey was hired to look after Pita but being a security guard for a little girl who's worth is so great wasn't easy. In the end, Pita comes back home to thank Creasey for everything and Creasey ends up thanking her for teaching him about what it is to live again.
8. The Passion Of Christ
As a Christian, and a believer in Christ, this movie by far, has made the greatest impact on me compared to any other movie that i've seen in the past. It's also one of the only movies that has ever made me cry. The movie makes you want to appreciate life and the people who are in it. It also makes you think about all the things people do for you that you don't really stop to appreciate. For example, we tend to take people like our parents and siblings, who are involved in our lives on a regular basis, for granted but the movie really makess you think twice about how you treat people. The Passion is one of the most inspirational and impactful movies that i've ever watched and i would definetly recommend it to all age groups.
9. The Notebook
Every girl has a favorite chick flick, and the Notebook is definetly mine!! I thought the Notebook was the cutest movie ever. The storyline was excellent. It was very well-thought out and I really liked the concept of going back in forth between the past and the present. The movie was about a wealthy young girl and a poor young boy that fall in love over the summer. However, their summer romance wouldn't last forever because she was due to return back to the city once the summer was over. So, the girl moves away and the boy writes to her everyday, never loosing site of the love he has for her. The girls mother kept all the letters he wrote to her so that she would marry someone of wealth which was more acceptable from a young woman like herself. Although she falls in love with the man she's about to marry, she never looses sight of the love she once had so many summers ago. The two reunite before the wedding and fall back in love with each other and they get married to live happily ever after. As old people, the girl developes Alzheimer's Disease but the boy never lets her forget the love that they once shared. In the end, they die together.
