Van Gogh was born on March 30th, 1853 in the Netherlands. His father was a minister so naturally, Van Gogh attempted to follow his fathers footsteps all throughout his childhood, but Van Goghs attempts to become a minister failed and led him to a world of misery. Many people look at Van Gogh as an insane genius. While studying to become a minister however, Van Gogh also developed a love for art. It has been said that not only did Van Gogh have a love for art, but he also had a love for a woman who rejected him in his life. As a result of this rejection, Van Gogh cut off his ear and sent it to her. Not many know what was meant by this but some say that he was trying to give her a piece of him...literally. Despite some of Van Goghs awkward lifestyles and stories, he still remains one of the most successful and insightful artists that have left an impact on soceity today. |
