| In case you haven't guessed from the title, my name is Whit. I'd shake hands with you if I could, but obviously a slight barrier exists between us! I met Erik (the bass player) in first grade, or something, at a bowling alley! Ever since that day we've been great friends. Around 7th or 8th grade, we came to the conclusion that we should be in a band. I had just started to learn the guitar, so we got together a couple times and recorded some pathetic guitar and bagpipe songs (maybe someday you'll hear them). Around 9th grade, I think Erik finally bought a bass, and by the end of the year he got an amp. So, Erik and I really started jamming at that time. Then Erik graduated from Emerson Jr. High and went to the high school. I am one year younger than he is, so I had to survive one more year of Emerson. As a result of going to different schools, we did not jam much during that year. The year after that, I went to the high school with Erik. We wrote and recorded many songs that year, but we still had no band. Just before the end of that year, Erik created this website to try to find people to join our band. It must have worked because now, a year later, we have a pretty big band: Mike Levin: guitar, vocals Erik Leiken: bass Me: guitar Jacob Newcomb: drums We have already rehearsed a lot, and we have tons of riffs we are currently working on. I hope we can get some concerts going soon. If you're on this website, I'm guessing you're pretty bored. Don't be ashamed, obviously I am bored if I am taking the time to write this biography that probably no one is reading! Anyway, I might as well tell you a little bit more about myself. I was born sometime in July, circa 1987 (July 28th, I think). My parents listened mostly to rock from the 60s and 70s and classical music. They probably had no idea how much money they would have to spend on me for music purposes. One day in 4th grade, I came home and said I wanted to play viola (I had previously heard John Cale playing the kick-ass instrument on the Velvet Underground track "Heroin"). I joined the Sacramento Youth Symphony in 8th grade, went to Brazil with the orchestra after 10th grade (Brazil is cool!), and quit the SYS shortly after. I started playing guitar in 7th grade, and you can read the rest above. Now I'm in 11th grade, and I am anxious to become a senior! |
