| 8degrees is a knockoff of this thing kn learned in materials class, called degrees of freedom of a system. number of degrees of freedom or externally controlled variables, (eg. temperature, composition, pressure) are the number of things which must be specified to determine the state of the system. have i lost u yet???? lemme give u an example. consider a Copper-Silver (Cu-Ag) system dat has 2 degrees of freedom - temperature, and composition. it is necessary to specify both the temp and comp of the system to determine whether or not it is solid, liquid, or gas at a given time. if u only specify 1 of these two variables, it is impossible to determine the state of the system. so... lemme connect this analogy to the group. it can be considered as 1 whole system, similar to the Cu-Ag system mentioned above. there are 8 variables dis time, bcoz there r 8 of us. u alwayz have to specify 8 different things to define us as a grp. to explain further, let's say we'r trying to describe the craziness of the grp. well, there r 8 lifeforms wid 8 different brains, and 8 different ways of thinkin, using 8 different operating systems. therefore, we will need to specify ALL 8 DIFFERENT DEGREES OF CRAZINESS. every1 of us is nut-o, but in different ways. it's d same way for everything. 8degrees of wacko, 8degrees of disgusting, 8degrees of funny, 8degrees of nice, 8degrees of laziness, 8degrees of EVERYTHING.. hence the name. |
