"So there I was... ruling." Elephant is a one-man project that reveres the metal it enjoys while using this passion to strengthen its own sound through constant experimentation and reinvention. Grateful for its dedicated fanbase yet refusing to take its praise for granted, Elephant has continued to resist fear and laziness out of the sheer thrill of creating music. Elephant's 2008 album, The Extinction Paradox, was further proof of Elephant's need to progress. Each album has stood both as the best Elephant could achieve at the time as well as the standard to be destroyed with the following album. Throughout each success and failure, Elephant's fans have mythologized the music better than Elephant itself ever could. Elephant now presents its seventh and final album, The Defining Choice. Everything before this was practice. Featuring intense riffs, evolving song structures, and imaginative lyrics, this is the final frantic yet focused tirade from a musician who feels that he is a the end of his creativity. The result will either overwhelm the listener or lure them into the enjoyable insanity to witness a triumphant ending. This was fun.
"Elephant veers from one dizzying precipice to the next in a style that embraces evolving riffs, a raw guitar tone, and an audacious disregard for convention." ---Metal Archives, 03/18/09
"This is an esoteric metal-head's wet dream as distorted chaotic guitar-oriented frenzy is dressed up in minimalist production, breaking down your mental faculties and causing you to lose control of all bodily functions." ---The Metal Observer; 04/24/07
"Thankfully, there are those out there who aren't content to churn out stale releases enforcing the status quo. North Carolina's Elephant (aka Chris Passas) is one such act." ---VoidExpression.net; November 2006 |
