Upper Seymour River: June 11th, 06After being away from kayaking for a while (1yr 9mos), I decided to get back into this sport that I have loved. In the winter months, I went back to UBC aquatic pool (very nice & big) to practice my strokes and rolling to get ready for this summer. I slowly regained confidence as my balance improved. The Vancouver Kayak Club is always a nice group of people to hook up for paddling. I saw an email that a group was planning to do the Upper Seymour river and so I decided to come along. Paddlers: Kevin, Dave M, Lanni, Dave #2, & Bryant. Water Level: Low flow. On the guage I heard 1.2 (3 on the rock?) and it dropped down to 1.0 towards the end of the run. River Description (from Claudia Paddle Page)
We did the long run in which it was a good warm up for me before the more exciting drops. The class 3 drops are towards the end of the run and a boulder garden run just before the first big drop.
