Kern River: Brush Creek (April 17th, 04)

Paddlers: John, Clark, Henry, Brad, Dan, and Danial.

Water Level: Low and not pushy.

My first creek/waterfall run! This creek and it's waterfalls are clean and I think a good class 3 boater can do it without problems. The biggest waterfall on this run is about 18 feet high (shortly after put-in) and then follow by several 4-13 feet high waterfalls. This run is a blast, lots of fun and excitement. In fact, you could walk back up and re-run some of them several times.

River Description

Brush Creek View.

Clark running the 18 feet waterfall which is the first big drop after put-in.

John's turn.

Dan re-surfacing.

I think this is the triple drop (not sure).

The first portage. There is a rock (rooster tail) in the middle of the drop which you can't see in this picture.

The second portage (runnable). This slot is very narrow (one boat's width) and we decided to do a seal launch instead.
