Middle Cheakamus River

Boaters: Pipo, Ken, Jiri, Laani, Phil, and I.

Water level: Cheakamus river above millar creek. Low: 2.175 meter.

Rain started a few days ago and we were hoping for some good level to paddle. We decided to run the Upper Mamquam but it was too high when we checked the gauge and none of us had paddled this level before. First look was around 70 on the gauge (under the bridge) and rising (sub-flooded condition). We went to scout a drop to evaluate the conditions. Eventually, we decided to call it. Interestingly, the next day (Monday), it dropped down to 20 which was too low!

With the rain, we were wet and cold so we decided to paddle something close by town. Middle Cheakamus came to our minds. To our surprises, the level on middle cheak was very low, almost too low! Without many choices, we decided to go for it.

Dinner and a movie at Pipo and Linda's place later.
