Nahatlach River (August 16 & 17, 03)

I paddled the Nahatlach river on both days (Sat & Sun) with the VKC. This is one of my favorite rivers.

Boaters: Eamond, Leslie, Ken, Keith, Gramh, Kevin, Laani, Phil, Gisela, Dave, Tudor, Curtis, and York

REO rafting water level reads 1.5 on saturday (low). We noticed water level went up slightly on sunday.

Put-in: Frances Lake.

Take-out: Apocynum campground.

Rose Garden: At 1.5 it was bony and more continuous than the rest of the rapids.

Meatgrinder: You can view this rapid from the top of the road (topo view). The line was from left to right (pretty straight forward) and there were two 'T' waves at the bottom left of the rapid.

Headwall: Steep drop and the rapid bends towards left. Distinguish features are two rocks at the bottom and the headwall is on river right. Most people ended up running the right side of the second rock close to the headwall.

The rest of the rapids were easier after the headwall.
