My father-in-law accompanied me and Hdawg out to Canyon lake on New Years day.   We launched at 7:30 AM with a slight breeze and air temperature at about 35 degrees.  Yeah it was a little chilly running all the way to North Shore right in front of the dam.  The water temperature was about 57 degrees and we were throwing  watermellon green Bass Asasins, Rootbeer DD22's and a few Baby Brush Hogs.  We got a few bites on the soft plastics but did not get a fish into the boat until Pawpaw pulled one in on drop shot rig using about 3/8 oz weight on an 18 inch leader with a 4" red worm.  Uncle Ken also fished along with us and had better luck.  He caught 2 nice bass on a RedEar DD22 crankbait and later caught 2 more on a Green Pumpkin tube.    The fish were biting on the windy side of the peninsulas and we later found that they had been feeding on crawfish - thus the hits on the Tube baits working along the bottom.  Prior to the trip to Canyon I did not have any tube baits or DD22's in the RedEar color...but I do now!
