WARRIORS ISSUE #1
Pg 1
We open with Lance Carter, in a suit and tie, at a desk. He is clearly bored. He is counting the minutes until he can leave.
Pg 1, Panel 1 – Lance is sitting at his desk, head propped on his hand, other hand on the mouse of his computer. He is staring blankly at his computer screen.
Pg 1, Panel 2 – A close up of Lance’s watch – 10:19
Pg 1, Panel 3 – A copy of Panel 1 – Lance is bored looking ahead, but has his head propped on the other hand.
Pg 1, Panel 4 – A close up of Lance’s watch – 11:25
Pg 1, Panel 5 – Lance eating a sandwich at his desk.
Pg 1, Panel 6 – A close up of Lance’s watch – 2:47
Pg 1, Panel 7 – An exact copy of panel 1.
Pg 1, Panel 8 – A close up of Lance’s watch – 4:45
Pg 1, Panel 9 – A puff of air (cartoon like) as Lance sprints out the door. A clock in the background show that it is 5:00.
LANCE – I’m Lance Carter…
Pg 2
A huge splash of Lance in his costume, his tie falling to the ground as he flies over the city of Atlanta. A backpack on the back of his costume holds his suit and some other things.
LANCE - …and I’m a superhero.
Pg 3
Lance is flying home, even though he knows he shouldn’t be. He clearly needs this outlet to get away from the drudgery of the working world.
Pg 3, Panel 1 – Lance flying over town – looking for a place to land.
LANCE - That’s not a popular thing with a lot of people, especially my mom. I’ve lost any chance at a normal life because of it. My fiancée, my friends, and more are all gone, because they didn’t understand. I was an up and coming star in the world of business – now I’m a work a day accountant.
Pg 3, Panel 2 – He lands on a rooftop.
LANCE – I can move things with my mind. Experts call it telekinesis. But the most I get to use that power these days is to sneak a quick flight home.
Pg 3, Panel 3 – Vance changes clothes – jeans and a polo shirt.
LANCE – I shouldn’t be a superhero anymore, but I can’t deny who I am.
Pg 3, Panel 4 – Lance enters his apartment, where Edge is waiting, cooking supper – soup and grilled cheese.
VANCE – “Hey, Edge.”
EDGE – “Hey, Lance. Soup’s on, literally. I tried to make something with chicken, but it did not turn out well. Rachael Ray lied to me. Sorry”
LANCE – “No problem. Soup sounds great.”
Pg 3, Panel 5 – Lance and Edge sit down to eat.
LANCE – “So what did you do today?“
Pg 3, Panel 6 – Eating at the table.
EDGE – “Watch TV, played Xbox. Same as it ever was.”
LANCE – “Same as it ever was, huh?”
Pg 3, Panel 7 – Still eating
LANCE – “What happened with that job interview?”
EDGE – “Didn’t work out.”
Pg 3, Panel 8 – Yep, still eating. Lance is obviously curious as to why Edge didn’t get the job.
LANCE – “Wanna talk about it?”
EDGE – “Nope”
Pg 3, Panel 9 – Finally, the eating ends.
LANCE – “If you need some help, I can get you a job at my firm. It’s probably a mailroom thing, but it’s something.”
EDGE – “Nah, I just need a break. Something to happen. Don’t worry. Something’s bound to break soon.”
Pg 4
This is the arrival of the girls. SALLY and MANDY are making their way to Atlanta, after living for a long time in Southern California. SALLY is a medium sized blonde, with blue eyes and the world’s greatest smile. MANDY is her insecure friend, brown hair, with a seemingly perpetual frown which still manages to be cute.
Pg 4, Panel 1 – A boot steps out of the bus. It’s a short cowboy boot.
Pg 4, Panel 2 – A woman belongs to the boot. SALLY is blonde, blue eyed, and humbly beautiful. She’s wearing cowboy boots, blue jeans and a cutoff flannel shirt.
SALLY – My name is Sally Turner. I’m a superhero. Or at least I want to be.
Pg 4, Panel 3 – MANDY comes out of the bus.
MANDY – “Atlanta. Hot weather, constant sunshine and friendly attitudes. I hate it.”
SALLY – “Like it or not, it’s where we have the most options.”
Pg 4, Panel 4 – The girls walking down the street away from the bus stop. Male heads turn to follow them.
SALLY – We came here to get away. Don’t ask from what, because I won’t tell. Suffice to say we wanted a better life. More opportunity. Fate brought us here.
Pg 4, Panel 5 – The men look at each other, and four of them follow the girls.
Pg 5
The girls are walking somewhere with determination, as the guys behind them stalk them with increasingly bad intentions.
Pg 5, Panel 1 – The girls are walking, as Sally is looking for something.
SALLY – “Where does this friend of yours live? Do we know where we’re headed?”
MANDY – “We’ll probably have to get a cab or something. It’s not nearby.”
Pg 5, Panel 2 – The guys following overheard this last comment and nod to each other.
Pg 5, Panel 3 - Sally stops to stare at Mandy.
SALLY – “What do you mean? I thought this guy was supposed to be right downtown.”
Pg 5, Panel 4 – Close up on Mandy, but you can see the guys approaching.
MANDY – “Well, not exactly…”
Pg 5, Panel 5 – The guys make their move.
CANNON FODDER 1 – “Can we help you ladies find something?”
SALLY – Turns to CF1 – “No” – Turns back to Mandy “What is that supposed to mean?”
Pg 5, Panel 6 – The guys won’t take no for an answer.
MANDY – “Well, he’s a little outside the city…”
CANNON FODDER 2 (interrupting) – “C’mon. We’re nice guys. We just want to help you out.”
SALLY – “No, thanks, we’re fine.”
Pg 5, Panel 7 – The guys move in for the kill.
CANNON FODDER 1 (Draws a knife) – “You sure are, baby. Isn’t that right, Lou”
CANNON FODDER 2 (apparently named Lou, and with a knife) – “Yeah, I sure think so.”
Pg 5, Panel 8
MANDY – “You guys don’t want to do this. Really.”
CF1 – “Sure, we do…”
CF2 – “Yeah, you two are going to give us a great time.”
Pg 5, Panel 9
SALLY – “Oh, no…”
Pg 6
It’s a fight scene! Pandemonium. Fun for all ages.
SALLY – “We’re not!”
Pg 6, Panel 1 (stretches across the top half of the page) – Sally is striking one in the solar plexus with her fist while kicking the other in the chest. Mandy, meanwhile, is smiling quietly in the background, staying out of the fray.
Pg 6, Panel 2
SALLY – See, I’m stronger than average women.
She drops an elbow onto the back of the one she punched.
Pg 6, Panel 3
SALLY – A lot stronger.
She throws the one she kicked across the sidewalk into a building.
Pg 6, Panel 4
SALLY – Sometimes too strong.
She looks over the scene somewhat in horror.
