suppose teaching is the art of molding something from a shapeless form to one of distinct character, or similar to polishing a raw gem to reveal its beauty. The work surely isn't easy, demands patience, is sometimes intensely frustrating (for teacher and student!), and occassionally greatly rewarding.  I think the greatest challenge is maintaining a conducive environment-- that is usually not within our control.
