The Cutting Edge: everybody wishes to have it; it goes against the grain and tide of conventionalism, and forges new possibilities. It is ironic that most of the time, the very environments that produce it actually become hostile to it. The Edge cuts its hosts because the hosts are ignorant of how to use it's capabilities. The host tries to dull the blade by imposing heavy loads against it. The host eventually discards the Edge in exasperation. But someone else will recognise its uniqueness and adopt it as their own. The Cutting Edge thrives in the new, nurturing environment and rises to its potential, creating new opportunities for all. The host, meanwhile, is left trying to keep their grounds "safe", ignorant of the vibrance and potential that the Edge once offered.
Let all who have rough-edged elements around them hear---what you don't appreciate may actually be the one thing everyone else needs. Too bad.
