Most people wake up in the morning,
Never thinking twice.
But for me it's different,
I'm a logger's wife.

You see... I wake up every morning,
And fear the coming day.
Fearing that my husband's life,
Could tragically be taken away.

He goes into the woods,
His drive?  I'll never understand.
What makes him want to do this?
By his side, I can only stand.

For this is who he is,
It's what he wants to be.
And I can only pray each day,
That he'll make it home to me.

So this I say to all of you,
Remember to always think twice.
Listen to someone who knows,
Listen to a logger's wife.

I wrote this poem after a fellow friend and business associate, of my husband, was killed in a tragic logging accident.  He left behind a saddened family and many distraught friends.

But I ask you this... why does it take a tragedy to make people think about what they can lose?  And why, once the tragedy fades, do we go back to the way we were before it?  We need to make sure that we always think twice and tell that someone that you love them.  For we may not have tomorrow.
