Springdew

Springdew owns a home with her Elothian sister, Kymba, in the beautiful village of Arthe Dale. When Kymba was very young and new to the Realms, she was adopted by the kind empath, Cepharian. Ceph and her fiance, a notorious rogue who shall remain nameless, taught Kymba the ways of the lands, allowing her to tag along on picnics, pack meetings at the Vipers nest, and, although she was unable to keep up with the adults, occasionally on the hunting grounds. It was a highlight of Kymbas life to sing at her parents wedding. Soon after, the little cub, Springdew, was born and coddled by all.

Shortly after Springdew was born, both of her parents mysteriously disappeared from the realms. It is said that her father got himself into trouble with the authorities, something to do with his line of business. Springdew has no memory of either of her parents. She hears tales of them from her sister, and sometimes wistfully gazes at her fathers picture in Kymbas locket.

Springdews fondest memories are of romping and playing with the children of Arthe Dale, foraging for berries, diving from the tree house into the local swimming hole for hours on end, enjoying the fun waterslide, and hiding among the wonderfully scented berried paths throughout the village. She and her Halfling buddies would watch with fascination as the many traders trudged into town, bearing exotic treasures on the backs of their yaks.

When Katamba turns her full face on the realms, Springdews entire being is overtaken by the malady known as moonskin. Faced with the challenge of raising a young cub alone, Kymba finds Springdews behavior during moon time to be incorrigible, base, and embarrassing. Her sisters howling, belching, and wild ways continue to drive Kymba to retire to her chambers with a warm cinnamon mead until Katamba wanes again.

The children of the village would shun Springdew when the moon was full, fearful of the weird transformation that would suddenly seize her--big teeth, furry skin, and strange ways. Consequently, despite the love around her, Springdew has always felt she has not really belonged anywhere. She has sought assistance from therapeutic empaths to try to control her lunatic impulses during the full moon, to no avail. She still considers herself a lone wolf.

Springdew became drawn to the merchandising trade, taking classes from some of the best merchants in the realms. She is proud of her growing reputation as a prosperous trader of integrity. While she has a passion for turning a coin, she also has inherited her mothers tendency to be generous with her profits and treasures. And she tries to keep her prices reasonable.

Aware of Kymbas disapproval, Springdew has nonetheless come to be aware that her own inclinations during the full Katamba are not only considered perfectly normal for one of her race, but can also be downright fun! With occasional inspiration from what she calls a wee draught from a local keg, Springdew is beginning to loosen up a bit and accept her Rakash (what she considers lunar-tic) side. Traveling the realms has helped introduce her to others who seem to be somewhat like herself. She loves to play, and longs to belong to a family where she can feel accepted, safe, howl with abandon from time to time, and celebrate the her true Katambic spirit.
