It had to be done. The AWP (Arctic Warfare Police) or as it should be dubbed.. The Arctic Warefare Magnum. Probably the most notorious gun from counter-strike. Ever. The Type 96 by Accuracy International LTD (who are just down the road from me) Is world reknown as one of the best sniper rifle systems available. A rather good edge to Britains gun manufacture. Mention no names. SA80.
Ok. so the gun itself. Really.. i thought it to be smaller. Judging by the size of the box..slightly longer than my spas 12, i thought it would be..slightly longer than my spas 12. WRONG. The gun comes in two parts. The body, made from abs plastic with metal fittings and rubber butt plate and cheek rest (Adjustable). The other part being the reciever, bolt, trigger assembly and barrel in one massive lump of metal. This gun means business for sure. The gun is easily assembled. Place the firing construction into the body, screw two bolts in with the included, beefy allen key...tighten.. and you're set. Almost. theres still fitting a scope and adjusting it all. The gun has no iron sights. Blatently.  Weight wise.. its slightly a burden to carry in alert position. the heavy nature tends to give you wrist ache after a while. Probably me used to a shorter gun.. Measuring at around 114 CM front to back. This thing is definatly way more intimidating that the spas 12.
Slap on a scope! I found the tasco bantam had a great range span for what i wanted. 1.5 to 4.5x. perfect for an un-upgraded APS2. Upgraded models may need a better scope. Although the Bantam gives a great field of view with the low magnifcation. Along with this i bought Tasco Centrefire mounts..Which fit perfectly.  As per usual.. the scope needed to be zeroed in first.. This takes about 60 shots and a screwdriver. and a little bit 'o patience. With this done.. its time to start seeing how she shoots. Although by now after all the zeroing.. youd have an idea. The gun will fire a 0.20g bb 75 feet..(thus excels work fine with this beauty. In calm weather. You'll be needing the Digicon Straight 0.36's for any harsh ish weather).. and still put a nice 'ol hole in the target sheet. Beauty. This impressed me as.. well. My sig doesnt even sniff these realms. but then. thats an assault rifle. Bad comparison. Basically the stock form is excellent. way more than what i expected to achieve.
Being my first sniper rifle.. Im a bit shyte aiming the thing. Either way. with my shit aim, grouping was within 2 inches at about 30 feet. since my target is A5 sized at 75 yards.. you'd have no trouble hitting a bloke sized object at the same distance.
The Action of the gun is what you should really expect from a solid metal bolt construction. Quick.. clean. and the option to remove the bolt is handy for maintenance..and fitting it in a gun case. Up back. forwards down. Just like CS!  A winning point for a gamer such as myself.
You cant beat the Maruzen L96. And it seems theyre a little hard to get a hold of, as i managed to bag the last from fire-support. They accept most PSS96 upgrades as the previous APS rifles.. Add this with "the most accurate airsoft rifle in the air sports gun industry" and you have a winning package. In my eyes..also a bloody bargain at 295 gun only. And i really cant find any major faults with the gun... rattly sling mounts are easily fixed with a little printer paper..and with a sling its not noticable anyway. Avoiding dryfires is easy thanks to the mag empty indicator. Only problem i have.. is a minor difficulty inserting a magazine. But with 30 shots in a sniper rifle. You wont be doing this often anyway. If id give this gun an out of ten score...Ten being the highest.. Id give it 9.
