| Remember Counter-Strike? You should do.. if you ever played it. Think the T's version of the AUG. Its the same gun. Tokyo Marui faithfully reproduced the SG552 Seals, In real life it is far from a terrorist weapon. Miraculously, the gun performs just as well as it did in the game. In my opinion anyway. The first thing i noticed was the weight. Damn! weighing a hell of a lot more than my Spas 12 at 2,205 grams according to Redwolf Airsoft, the gun is par with its real life weight. A nice factor of an airsoft replica. The gun comes fitted with two not so strategically placed Ris rails on the handgrip. Personally i would have liked them on the top to mount a scope, but a scope mount can be bought seperately. This rails can also be removed if you dislike them. The SG552 features a folding stock, Great for CS Urban situations. With the stock folded the sig measures at 19 inches long. Making it extremely pointable and stowable. With the stock extended, its 28.5 inches long. Making it a nice all round alternative from the Armalite or Mp5. The stock itself is extremely sturdy and locks in to a push clip when folded. It stays rigid thanks to the full metal assembly on the rear of the gun. Looks wise, the Gun is extremely well finished with many metal parts. (fore and rear sights, Trigger, trigger guard, bolt, stock hinge and assembly, flash hider, barrel, Front end assembly and the block where the aftermarket scope mount fits to.). The majority of the guns shell is constructed from the timeless ABS plastic. From the looks of it, its powder finished to give an authentic SHINELESS look. on parts of wear (foregrip and pistol grip, stock etc) some shine will develop, But to me this isnt a big deal. Moving parts include the bolt (which doesnt lock back but hides the hop up adjuster, rotary kind) Gas regulator..thingy...which hides a screw for gun take down, the stock, rear sight (which has full adjustability and preset range aiming holes.) and the trigger guard, which can fold for use with gloves. A nice selling point is the (standard) magazine design, with the replica rounds visible like the G36C.. On taking apart the mag i realise the replica rounds are a plastic moulding, but they look extremely good through the semi transparent mag shell. Downside of these mags is the small capacity at 43 rounds (39 effective since 4 rounds will always refuse to feed due to spring tension. Probably easily fixed by stretching the follower spring). Power wise? Redwolf dictates it at 265 fps. Plenty good in my opinion, but not as powerful as some other AEGS. I havent come across internal upgrades for the 552 yet.. but i expect they exist somewhere. For internal upgrades id suggest any of the armalites. The SG552 uses the new EG1000 motor for a hellish ROF, but uses an 8.4 600mah mini battery (housed in the foregrip) You'll have to get 2 or more batteries for a good days worth. I find a battery lasts a few hours. and the change is easy. Mini batteries are nice and small, so you could carry a few on the field anyway. |
| All in all, The Sg552 is a great gun. With a nice REALISTIC weight, great appearance and solid construction rivalling the G36C, Its a perfect beginners alternative to the Mp5 or an M4. Main downsides being Low capacity standard magazines and battery size. After market mods are abundant due to the included ris rails supporting most accessories. The Sg552 also comes with Maruis new bb loader, for swift mag loading. - Dan |
