February 27th, 2003 ~Whiplash(D), Onslaught(D), Cinder(D) Darkmount - Repair Bay Much like the adjacent research lab, the equipment here is showing signs of age, but is kept in a serviceable condition. Two automated repair drones lie against the far wall, though each is obviously missing a few parts...apparently they've been salvaged for someone else's benefit. The once well-stocked parts closets now contain mostly empty shelves and bins. Several dozen repair tables of various sizes are arranged in rows in the middle of the room. Whiplash [Robot] [D] Onslaught [Robot] [D] Cinder [Robot] [D] AutoMedic Dartboard Serdidymus Medical Terminal Obvious Exits: -S- South leads to Darkmount - Regeneration Spa -E- East leads to Darkmount - Medical and Science Level -W- West leads to Darkmount - Cryochamber -Whiplash is just coming into the repair bay to check on those she left here last night. -Onslaught lies on one of the repair tables, seemingly offline and restrained well within all internal security protocols - and then some. In fact, even though offline, this Onslaught seems to be sporting a fresh 'less than a cycle old' frame...hmm...oh well, regardless he is here, but seemingly more as a prisoner than as a patient. -Whiplash sidesteps around Cinder in the entranceway, giving the seeker a once-over as though checking to see if he got in trouble again. Solar was asking about him earlier. -Cinder steps to one side as well, nodding "Whiplash." he rasps softly. "G... Good evening." -Moonlight makes her way into the repair bay, looking a bit distracted and holding a datapad. -Onslaught stirs slightly in his restraints, and then calms...his visor still completely dim, and perhaps for the better. -Well, he looks like he's in one piece again, anyway. Whiplash nods to Cinder, her gaze flickering over toward Onslaught, whom she barely had time to inspect yesterday - but just as she's about to take a step in that direction, Moonlight comes in. Whiplash greets her with a smile, showing a glint of fangs. "Hey there. Settling back in?" -Cinder is in one peice, though his body misses the scaly-type etchings in places. -Moonlight nods to Cinder, but her attention seems to be on Whiplash. "Yeah, something like that." She doesn't seem to have her usual pep at the moment. that." She doesn't seem to have her usual pep at the -Cinder nods as well to Moonlight "Madame." he states quietly, waiting for the doorway to be cleared. -Whiplash looks Moonlight over, noting her manner. "Don't let it get you down," she says, referring to the capture, though Moonlight may or may not be able to discern that. "You had it better than I did, let me tell you." She steps further into the room, beckoning Moonlight to follow and thus they both clear the door. -Moonlight hangs back for a bit. "I'm not going to worry about the whole capture thing until I have to talk to Solar and Enfilade about it. It's done with for now, I'm back in Darkmount, so why let it trouble me." She shakes her head. Then, as a sort of after thought, "And Cinder, don't call me Madame. I have a name for a reason you know." She forces herself to grin. don't call me Madame. I have a name for a reason yo -Cinder stops at that, and turns, straightenign to attention "S... sorry ma... Errm... Mmoooonlighttt." he stammers, off guard "H... habit." -Suddenly, and almost without warning, Onslaught's visor flashes a bright red, and continues to glow, as the large-ish Decepticon commander finally awakes from his slumber, and almost instantly feeling himself restrained, struggles but for a moment. Realizing any efforts to remove himself from the restraints would be in vain, Onslaught shakes off his inclination towards anger, and merely sighs... -Whiplash gives Moonlight a conspiratorial smile. "Got something that might cheer you up," she begins, but is suddenly distracted by the movement from Onslaught. Her own optics flash brighter for a moment, she gives a soft hiss - and she steps over to regard the Combaticon. Yes, she's looking for some evidence of damage, specific damage - though of course everything has been repaired. The tentacles pick up their pace around her. -Moonlight doesn't get anywhere /near/ Onslaught...he did, after all, toss her off the Darkmount launching pad. Instead she turns her attention towards Cinder. "Well, whatever conventions and habits you've learned, you should probably forget around me. I'm not exactly a conventional person. Besides, I'm just one of the little people. No need to adress me like I'm important or anything." She chuckles slightly. -Cinder hesitates, t hen nods slowly "Its... mere... politeness..." he slurrs, to keep his voice level. He glances past her towards Onslaught, frowning a bit in puzzlement, but says nothing. -Onslaught looks at the other Decepticons in the repair bay, and can't help but wonder....wonder wonder ... wonder, and with his 'standard' calm collected voice, addresses them in general, "Ahhh...what joyous wonder to have you lot be what I see when first I open my optics. I suppose it'll have to do...better than having a bunch of medtechs standing over me...or perhaps security...or for that matter Autobots..." -Whiplash only peers down at Onslaught in silence for the longest time. From his vantage point he can probably see her face and the tentacles thrashing all around her. She's really not sure what to make of him, and this is clear in her expression ... something puzzled that shifts to the edge of anger, shades into concern, and returns to a kind of neutral wariness. -Moonlight nods. "Which is certainly a good quality to have...but one that is a bit wasted on me," she says with a grin, glancing uneasily at Onslaught the next moment. -Cinder states "I will... try to remember it..." he too, glances over at Onslaught, then whispers ineffectually "What... happened?" -Whiplash asks finally, in a somewhat flat tone, "So why ... do they have you all strapped down? You look like you're all fixed up." -Onslaught once again sighs as he averts his gaze, not looking at Whiplash, or any of them for that matter, instead reserving himself to the ceiling above, "Well, the medtechs tell me Ghost ordered that I be restrained for internal security reasons....then again, I'm not sure I trust them completely." -Moonlight shrugs and shakes her head. "I'm not really sure. But then again, I did just spend a great deal of time locked up at Iacon. I'm afraid I'm a wee bit out of the loop." -Cinder nods, looking at Moonlight in surprise. "I see. " he rasps softly "That is... Commander... ONslaught, yes?" -Whiplash growls softly, in spite of herself. She remembers too well the feeling of being restrained in med bay, and the instant fury it aroused in her. Onslaught is taking it amazingly calmly. But she has to persist, lowering her voice to nearly a whisper, "What's the last thing you remember before you were brought in?" -Onslaught continues to not look over at any of those present, perhaps not wanting to...or perhaps debating something internally...all the same, he replies to Whiplash without missing a beat, "Let's see...oh yes, a bright light. Bright light, large explosion, lots of pain, then darkness." -Whiplash growls a little more loudly, the tentacles bristling. "*Before* that," she insists. Does he really not know what she's asking? - impossible, surely - or is he just avoiding the question? She clarifies, "What got you into this mess?" She gestures at the med table and the restraints. -Moonlight mmmmm-hmmmmms. "That would be him." She listens to what Onslaught is saying in response to Whiplash's whisperings. -Cinder nods again, wondering what this was about, and if he should be... "Should I... go?" -Onslaught sighs once more, and if anything seems irritated if not exasperated. "Which mess? If you mean the restraints, I'm not entirely sure...again, I only know what the medtechs told me. BEFORE that...hmm...as I said, large explosion if I recall. Near Iacon. Memory's a little fuzzy...they tell me my core sustained some heavy damage as well...not as bad as my frame...but bad enough." -Moonlight shakes her head. "Not unless they tell you to...or you want to. Weird stuff always happens in repair bay." She pockets her datapad for the moment to free her hands. Her face doesn't look all that sympathetic to Onslaught's situation. She just stands back and listens, facing Cinder more than Onslaught or Whiplash. -Whiplash repeats slowly, "Near Iacon." The tentacles slow their pace a little, though the optics burn a steady violet. The voice lowers again to a softly hissing whisper. "Look, I really need to know this. What was the last encounter you had with me?" -Cinder thinks about that, then states "I will... stay here... " safer. -Onslaught finally turns to look at Whiplash, and stares long and hard before answering...as if wording the answer, or perhaps still thinking of some plan out of his restraints. "Not much point in my telling you what I can recall of that Whiplash, since we were being watched anyways. I did however learn to not let you near me...and that if I can recall, and this too is fuzzy, but perhaps you're not wanting or respecting my place here....or some such. Again, fuzzy...most things are." -Moonlight folds her arms. "Suit yourself. You might want to have a seat if you plan on sticking around though." She demonstrates by finding a seat as far away from Onslaught as possible. around though." She demonstrates by finding a se -Cinder nods, hesitating, before moving to sit NOT next to Moonlight. Here, the other cadets couldn't get him. -Whiplash bares her fangs, as this does little to answer her questions. Why is she badgering this poor defenseless restrained patient? It's probably a mystery to the others in the room, regardless of their own feelings about the Combaticon. Maybe Whiplash is a sadistic monster? ... One thing she definitely is, is annoyed and frustrated. Very abruptly she spins away from Onslaught and stalks in the opposite direction, toward Moonlight. "Got something for you, like I said," she announces rather abruptly, as though wanting to rid herself of the previous conversation from one instant to the next. -Whiplash bares her fangs, as this does little to answer her questions. "Got something for you, like I said," she announces rather abruptly, as though wanting to rid herself of the previous conversation from one instant to the next. -Moonlight makes a mock pouty/hurt face at Cinder, but then turns her attention back to the scene unfolding between Whiplash and Onslaught. -Cinder watches this, trying to look like he isn't watching, instead, tracnig a new pattern on his armor gently with a finger. -Onslaught mutters to Onslaught: "Note to ... ... ... time ... orders ... restrained try ... be conscious. ... ... ... leave....soon." -Whiplash draws something out of the storage compartment in her side. It's all folded up, so it's hard to tell at first glance what it is - though it pops back into shape as she releases her grip, and holds it out to Moonlight. It's a very familiar hat. "Wanted to give it to you yesterday when we found you, but we were kinda busy cutting our way through Autobots," she says. -Onslaught watches Whiplash carefully before calling out after her, perhaps a bit of sarcasm in his voice, or perhaps being utterly serious...who can tell? "Oh, and before I forget...next time you try to pull what you did, I WILL shoot you 'Lash. Old friendships aside... and while I'd rather have your friendship, I can't even figure out why I didn't shoot you when you attacked me... would've made infinitely more sense..." -Moonlight grins, genuinely this time. "Thanks. I was beginning to think I'd never see this again." With great and evident pleasure, she pops the hat on her head and adjusts it just so. But her good mood seems to be shattered by Onslaught's words. Well, that was a short lived joy. It certainly doesn't make Moonlight think any better of Onslaught. -Cinder eyes the hat uncertainly, then blinks, looking up between Onslaught and Whiplash in surprise. -Whiplash spins away from Moonlight at Onslaught's words, leaving her without explanation as to where she got the coveted hat (though given the use of the rats in Iacon, she can probably guess the hat was retrieved from cryo along with the original rat), and stalks back toward Onslaught's table. Yeah, *now* she knows who she's dealing with, and her optics flash brilliant in indignation. "Maybe next time you won't take advantage of an old friendship to jerk me around for your own amusement!" she snaps. "Maybe I shoulda finished what I started! I *still* don't know who you really are." -Onslaught chuckles softly as he shakes his head at Whiplash, knowing exactly what buttons to push, but not knowing exactly what in the name of Primus he was talking about, "Whiplash...you don't listen very well. As I said...that incident was watched...and my memories are a little blurry as to whether I was the one watching you do what you did...or having it done to me. As for my amusement...I haven't been 'amused' at all...in a long time. Longer than I can remember. Do me a favour though...stay away...I happen to like being in one piece, and quite frankly, I have this 'instinct' that I may not be able to trust anyone around here any longer...then again, what do I know? Oh well... I have no idea why you're getting angry...but feel free to get as angry as you'd like..." -Cinder shifts a little bit uncomfortably, looking at Moonlight again questioningly. -Moonlight doesn't know what Whiplash's grip with Onslaught is, but she knows her own. "You can trust us all as far as you can /throw/ us Onslaught. Or kick us at any rate." Moonlight sounds calm, but there is a slight bit of venomous emphasis on one of her words. Being tossed off the launch pad is not something that she's taking lightly. She holds up a hand to Cinder, indicating she'll say something later...just not now. -Whiplash leans over Onslaught's table and hisses, not especially softly, "*If* you're the Onslaught I used to know, you can trust me with your life and anything else you care to throw at me. If you're not, you better hope I make it a clean kill next time. And if I find out you're toying with me, fella, for no good reason whatsoever, then I won't make it a clean kill." -Cinder looks at Moonlight in startlement at that, and now starts to look VERY worried... was being a graduate no better than a cadet? -Whiplash would normally not talk to a member of High Command in *quite* that tone, let alone make threats/promises - whether they were strapped down or not. But something has her considerably agitated, like it's personal. -Onslaught makes a soft noise of sorts as he sits up, forcibly snapping a few of the restraints in the process, however his movements are purposefully slow as to not cause alarm, his voice intoned such that each word is delivered with the best use of emphasis, "Whiplash, my dear old friend. Don't even threaten me again. I am who I am...that's all..." turning to Moonlight and continuing in his 'effective' use of wording, "As for you, I do NOT recall EVER laying even a finger on you Moonlight. For that matter, nor do I ever have any intentions of doing so..." slowly lying back down, and ignoring the snapped restraints as medtechs quickly rush over to re-restrain Onslaught. -Moonlight arches an optic ridge and actually stands up again to take a step towards Onslaught. "That's a lie. You stunned me and kicked me off the top of the Darkmount launch pad! How can you say you've never laid a finger on me!" -Cinder sits back in his chair, very still, very straight, very not-noticeable, hopefully. -Whiplash draws back and growls at Onslaught in response, her retort cut short by Moonlight's accusation. She looks from Onslaught to Moonlight and back again, the optics still burning steadily. -Onslaught resumes watching the ceiling as he almost matter of factly, and quietely states his current thoughts on the matter, "That's enough...I tire of having to explain myself really... To end this all, because quite frankly having my 'position' and 'authority' questioned like this really doesn't help any, I'll field everything in such a manner for you BOTH to stop with your petty accusations." takes a moment to pause, and then starts up again, "Moonlight, I, Onslaught, did not, and have never kicked you, stunned you, or done anything to you. If anyone who looked like me did, I'll apologize for the confusion...however I have no recollection of doing so. End of discussion...If you want to continue to think that I did, I can't stop you...just telling you it wasn't myself..." pauses yet again, this time addressing a different individual, and hence clearing his throat, not really knowing who the new person is in the repair bay, and already knowing that whatever authority he may have had with them was thrown out the window...oh...whenever this all started. "Whiplash, as for you...I've known you too long to personally hold a grudge...so if you want to hate me, and want to feel me unfit for my duties...go ahead. I'm honestly tired of arguing with everyone around here about every little thing. HOWEVER... if you wish to continue questioning my position and rank, feel free to lodge a formal complaint with Enfilade. I can only imagine you've gotten over her...quarrel as it were, with her..." -Moonlight folds her arms. "I never once questioned your authority. I just don't like getting kicked around like that. Besides, if I wanted to complain about your abilities to lead, I would have done so by now." She tilts her head slightly to see how Onslaught is taking it. -Cinder just watches, very small, very unnoticed. -Whiplash's optics narrow at the reference to her "quarrel" with Enfilade. She remains still and silent for a moment, though it's clear she's still angry because she can't make sense of the situation. Rather than replying directly, though, she turns away and stalks toward the door, muttering loudly enough for the others to hear, "I'm going back out to my guard post. At least out there it's easy to tell who my friends and enemies are." -Onslaught groans as he mentally notes whatever he can about this all..."Again, I didn't kick you Moonlight....and Whiplash, have fun at your guard post...if you don't see me around as often, don't be surprised... the moment Ghost officially allows me out of my restraints, I'm requested a transfer out of Darkmount. But don't worry...I won't 'get in your way'...or make you 'question' who's who..." -Moonlight watches Whiplash go with a slight sigh. "Thanks for giving me back my hat. I sure missed it," she says as Whiplash departs. Then she turns back to Onslaught. "Well, whoever did kick me sure looked a lot like you. Only he laughed too much." -Whiplash pauses at the door and snaps, "Why didn't you just answer the code phrase? You just wanted to see what I'd do, didn't you?" She's disgusted, without doubt, and also hurt somehow. She doesn't wait for an answer. She's gone. -Onslaught mutters to Onslaught: "Because ... never asked ..." -Cinder watches Whiplash go as well, looking from one to the other in confusion still. Then he leans back and sinks into his chair, wings folded around him. -Moonlight keeps her arms folded and waits to see if Onslaught has any further response. Sure, he's multiple ranks higher than her, but that doesn't mean she doesn't expect some sort of response to her words. -Cinder is still sittieng there quiet as a mouse, curled up on his chair, looking a bit drowsy -Moonlight notes that Onslaught has nothing left to say. She turns to Cinder. "Well, I've had enough of this. I'm out of here for now. You can come if you like." -Cinder looks at Moonlight unertainly "Where?" -Moonlight shrugs. "Doesn't matter really. But I have to stick to Darkmount until Enfilade and Solar have their little chats with me." She heads for the door, not waiting to see if Cinder is following or not. Darkmount - Elevator Shaft You step into the reinforced lift and note immediately the large Decepticon sigil etched into the back wall as a reminder to all of where they are and why they serve the great Empire. There is a control panel near the door for selection of your desired destination. Obvious Exits: -6- leads to Darkmount - Launch Platform -5- leads to Darkmount - Security Level -4- leads to Darkmount - Medical and Science Level -3- leads to Darkmount - Barracks -2- leads to Darkmount - Command Level -1- leads to Darkmount - Tunnel -Cinder follows behind Moonlight quickly, bored with medical bay... and perhaps being seen with a noncadet will ward off the others. "I think... I will come... exercise good... for repairs." -Moonlight nods as she scans down the column of buttons. She really doesn't know where she wants to go. -Cinder steps in and looks around as well, optics looking at everything "I... haven't seen... all o the base." -Moonlight turns away from the buttons. "Anything in particular you want to see?" -Cinder uhmmmms, trying to think "C... comand... level?" hge asks hopefully. That was almost holy ground to a cadet. -Moonlight nods and obligingly hits the button for the command level. It's not one of her favorite places to be, but then again, neither is any other part of Darkmount...except maybe her own room. -Cinder says, "Is... living here... diffiult?" -Moonlight leans back against the wall, feeling the vibration of the moving elevator behind her, and consdiers the question. "It can be if you make the wrong people angry." -Cinder nods slowly, looking questioning "are... the older ones... more tolerant... of differences?" -Moonlight shakes her head. "It's hard to say really. The best advice I can give you is to sit back, watch, and learn. Each one of the higher-ups reacts differently to each situation. Some of them listen better than others. Learn who they are by watching how they deal with your peers." The elevator dings, alerting the people inside that they have reached the floor they desired...as if the abrupt stop wasn't signal enough. -Cinder cringes at that, strangely enough, and nods "O... okay..." he states, sounding a bit dismal. He lets Moonlight go first -Moonlight shrugs and exits the elevator. Darkmount - Command Level You step into this hall of heroes and are immediately struck by the quiet solemnness of this place. From the huge Decepticon sigil forged into the floor to the elaborate statues of great Decepticon leaders and warriors, this room demands absolute decorum and quiet introspection from all who pass through it. As you stride through towards one of the connecting doorways, you can't help but look up at those heroes who have served this great Empire and wonder what their lives must have been like. The statues stand in stoic silence, each commanding in its own way. Silently, these warriors watch your progress as they have for eons and as they will for eons to come. You can almost hear the shout, "LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!" Obvious Exits: -N- North leads to Darkmount - Elevator Shaft -S- South leads to Darkmount - Command Center -E- East leads to Darkmount - Officers' Quarters -W- West leads to Darkmount - Meeting Hall -Cinder eyes the statues warily, and shivers a little bit. He keeps scanning back and forth, standing where few cadets probably have stood before. -Moonlight looks at Cinder and shakes her head. "Are you always so tense?" -Cinder says, "I like... the word... ready." -Moonlight chuckles softly. "That will look good on your resume, but you're still tense. Here's another spot of advice for you. Relax when you can, because sometimes you'll regret that you didn't take time to enjoy yourself. True, this is a war, but that makes your time even more precious. I've seen lots of the higher ups try to relax and fail. They're too used to the tenseness, and they didn't take a little time out just to be themselves." She sighs. "Okay, that makes me sound like I'm all doom and gloom. I'm really not." She looks at the statues. "They never get to relax either." -Cinder makes a slight grimace. "I... I try... it is... not easy..." he eyes the statues again, not liking them. -Moonlight gives Cinder a sympathetic look. "I know. The only reason I seem so relaxed is that war hasn't been my whole life, like it is for most people on Cybertron. I'm from off-planet origionally. Some people think my style is a bit odd, but I'm sure I laugh more than they do. I'm sure you'll find your place. We all do eventually." She pauses. "You want to look around on this floor some more, or would you rather go elsewhere? Have you even found your quarters yet?" -Cinder looks at Moonlight at that, listening attentively. He looks around slowly and states "Quarters..." he hesitates... quarters... other cadets "Negative. Staying in medical bay." -Moonlight hmmmmms. "Well, you can't stay there forever, that's for certain. We should go take a peek, see if you've been assigned a room yet." -Cinder flinches. "N... no... that's okay..." he states now quietly. "But... will hae no choice... might as well... " -Moonlight has never seen anyone so reluctant to visit their quarters. Then again, she has a fairly nice room. "Okay...let's go." She turns away from those intimidating statues and walks back into the elevator. Darkmount - Barracks You step through the large and heavy door into an archaic looking cavern. The natural material of the mountain is very much in evidence here, as not much effort was put into making the army's barracks very attractive. With plasma tools and brute hydraulic power, hundreds of cubicles have been carved out in strangely organized rows throughout the room and at multiple levels. The size of the cubicle is a general indication of the rank of the owner, and you'll notice several larger rooms higher up in the cavern, almost as if they were positioned to watch over the troops below. Obvious exits: -N- North leads to Darkmount - Elevator Shaft. -S- South leads to Darkmount - Guardhouse. -Cinder follows Moonlight quietly, looking like he dreaded going down this way. Cinder trudges after Moonlight, and keeps glancing back and forth as though espexcting a ghost to jump out at him. -Moonlight puts a hand on Cinder's shoulder again. "Calm yourself. It isn't /that/ bad around here." She thinks for a moment, "You're just a cadet eh? How long till you finish up with your learning?" -Cinder sighs and gives a rough date. HE was only halfway through the training thing. "Its not... the place... its... the company." -Moonlight points to a room down the hallway. "That's my room over there. They're all organized according to rank. It makes finding people rather easy." She leans back and looks up towards the ceiling, "The really high rankers have rooms down in the Command level. But the highest group of rooms here are still pretty impressive." -Cinder nods, and looks towards the opposite end, where he guesses his barracks were. The mech hunkers down miserably "I think... one more night... in medbay... is needed." -Moonlight scans Cinder's face. "Is it really /that/ bad?" -Cinder nods. "Y... yes..." he whispers "I tell... no-one. I am not a coward. But I do not like it." he states softly. "Others... are... not friendly... to me... " he points to the shoulder, which is still missing its decoration of etchings, where he had been damaged. -Moonlight frowns. "Well, that's just stupid. Everyone's so busy trying to be all super-impressive that they don't realize they're alienating the people that will have their backs for the next thousand years at least." She stamps her foot. "Well, if you need a retreat, I'll leave my door open for ya. When I'm not confined to Darkmount, I usually rest in one of my other two rooms anyhow." -Cinder nods a bit, optics flickering "You... sure?" he asks, sounding like he didn't get favours very often. "Th... thank you... I will... take it if necessary. WE will see... after I meet... with En... Enfilade." -Moonlight smiles warmly. "Don't worry about it. As long as you're calm and respectful and explain the situation truthfully, I'm sure Enfilade will be reasonable." -Cinder hehs "Will do... my best... " he states, sounding a bit more calm now. "As well... I have... record... for me... " -Moonlight nods. "Well, good luck. You remember where the repair bay is, or do you want me to lead you back?" -Cinder states "I can remember... I have... good memory... th... thank you." -Moonlight grins. "That's a good thing to have. Well, I'm going to turn in for now. You take care of yourself and let me know how your interview with Enfilade goes." -Cinder nods "I... I will..." he states again, stnading there stupidly a moment. Then he straightens, giving Moonlight a very crisp, perfect salute, before about-turning and walking towards the lift. -Moonlight doesn't have the 'heart' to tell Cinder that she doesn't like salutes either. Smiling to herself, she turns and walks into her barracks room.
