Episode 51: "The Man Behind It All" - PT III Written by: Yaniv Shlamberg and Ethan Riley. Horrified, Krystina turned around to the person who called her and came face to face with a local nurse, wearing white. “You shouldn’t be here, miss. It’s too dangerous for you!” the nurse whispered. Before Krystina could realize what was going on, the nurse dragged her into the stairwell, looking around her and making sure nobody was there. “You aren’t Miss Hamilton, are you? I knew Ashley. You can fool the old lady perhaps, but not her daughter.” “You mean Michelle?” Krystina asked, stunned. “Look, for your safety, it’s best that you leave Germany and stop that investigation of yours. You seem a nice girl, but those people are ruthless,” the lady continued. “What people? Who are you talking about? Please tell me. I have to know. Do you know the old lady’s daughter? You’re talking about her?” “You just leave now, please!” “What happened to the old lady’s husband? Is it true Israel assassinated him?”
“Look, miss – “ “Please, you have to tell me. I have to know what happened to him and to Michelle’s husband, please!” “Miss. You have to stop asking questions, if you don’t want to end up like her husband. She’s dangerous!” the nurse said and immediately regretted it. “Who, Michelle? Michelle killed her own husband?” “Just leave. Before it’s too late for you. You have to leave. Now!” The nurse said as they heard voices behind the door. “Go, go!” She pushed Krystina toward the exit and then quickly left. Denver Memorial Hospital “Father! It really is you!” Roman said weakly in his hospital bed. “Don’t call me that, you miserable bastard,” was his father’s cold reply. “I have no son.” “Father, don’t say that...I tried, I really did. But that cop, he--” “I don’t give a damn about any of your pathetic excuses. You’ve failed me. You’ve always been a failure. A worthless loser, more worthless than the sow who bore you.” “My...mother, was a good woman,” Roman was becoming delirious with pain. “She was trash, just like you. And I’m to blame for all this; for letting you have another chance. How stupid I was, thinking I could trust you. I’ve never been able to trust anybody, you know that? Not your incompetent cousin, or your sainted mother; least of all, you. It all fell apart because of the likes of you.” “I didn’t mean anything by it; I wanted a father,” Roman whispered. “You were...you were gone for so long, you--” “That was none of your business. I covered my bases without your help. Without anyone’s help. And now I’ll take back what’s mine. I don’t need anyone, you hear me?” “Yes...you need me, I’m your son...” “I told you. I have no son,” the man said. With strength that belied his physique, he pulled the pillow out from under Roman’s head, held it menacingly over his son and pushed down hard. Roman was still too weak to put up much of a fight. His agonizing muffled cries did nothing to stir the heart of the old man who stood his ground, not giving an inch until Roman’s struggles ceased, as did his life. The heart monitor flatlined, sending an eerie high pitched squeal across the hospital room. Roman’s father carefully replaced the pillow and walked out of the room nonchalantly, quickly disappearing into the hospital corridors… And now...
