Episode 37

"It all comes tumbling down" PT I

Denver Police Station

“Well, Mr. Roberts are you going to corporate with us now?” the detective asked Kyle as he walked into the interrogation room. He was in his forty’s, tall, fat and tough. Kyle was not intimidated. In the past, he had met bigger and stronger men than this detective, and made toast out of them. But this time the situation was helpless, and that made him scared. He knew perfectly well what would happen, if they found out he works for Bob Wagner. He couldn’t jeopardize his situation by telling them the truth. Kyle wasn’t afraid of Wagner, he was afraid that Krystina would find out the truth, and would be disappointed in him. That was too much for him to bear.

“As I told you already, detective, I had nothing to do with the package you found in my car, it wasn’t mine!” “You know we find your fingerprints on it” the detective wasn’t about to give up.

“Of course my finger prints were on it, I tried to take it away from Lauren!”

“So this package belongs to Lauren Colby, is that what you are staying?”

“I didn’t say that!”

“So if it’s not yours, and not Lauren’s,” He paused as a grin formed upon his face, “Then who does it belong to, Roberts?”

“I don’t know!”

“Look, pal, I don’t like games, and this game you are playing with me is beginning to piss me off.” He got closer to Kyle’s face, “I don’t think you want to piss me off, do you Mr. Roberts, because if you do, you will spend the night in jail, and a pretty boy like you won’t last long, do you under stand what I’m saying?” The detective yelled at Kyle. “Davidson! Put him in a cell!” He called out to one of the police officers, who came in and grabbed Kyle by his hand.

“Hey, you can’t do this, I didn’t do anything!” Kyle yelled as the police officer grabbed his hands, and pulled him out the door.

“Sherman, wait! I have something for you!” another detective called when he walked into the police station. He approached his collage and whispered to him something in his ear. Kyle, still held by the police officer, was curious, as detective Sherman looked at him and smiled.

“It looks like you are going to stay here officially now, Roberts!” He announced with a smile.

“What? Why? I didn’t do anything. I told you! The package wasn’t mine!” he yelled.

“I suppose you’ll say the same thing about the other packages we found in your back seat too, right?” the detective smiled triumphal. “Arrest him,” He said to the police officer.

“What? No, wait a minute, wait!” Kyle yelled.

“It has your fingerprints all over the packages, Roberts. Or maybe it was belongs to the girl too?” the detective said as Krystina walked into the station and saw Kyle being arrested.

“Kyle, what is going on!?”

“Nothing, Krystina, it will be fine, don’t worry! I love you!” Kyle called as the police officer began reading him his rights, and drugged him away.

“No, it’s a mistake, sir! He didn’t do anything, please!” Krystina said to the detective, almost crying.

“Mrs. Roberts, I’m sorry, but it looks like your husband is a heavy drugs dealer!” the detective said to the stunned Krystina.

The Carrington Mansion

“Will you answer me?” Blake’s angry voice thundered through the room as he stormed inside, towards his daughter. Both Fallon and Krystle were still shocked that Blake suddenly stood in the doorway and obviously overheard Fallon’s confession about blackmailing Patricia to get out of town.

“Daddy, I...” Fallon began but Blake cut her:

“Is it true what you just said?” When Fallon didn’t answer, he grabbed her arm and looked into her eyes. Still fuming, he repeated: “Is it true that you were the reason why Patricia left Denver? Answer me!”

Eventually Fallon bent her head and said: “Yes.” Then Blake let go of her, still staring at his daughter. Fallon repeated everything she had told Krystle a few minutes ago.

“I can’t believe you did this!” Blake finally said, unable to hide a bit of disgust in his voice. Fallon looked up and tried to explain: “Daddy, I’m sorry. I know what I did was wrong, but I was so jealous and foolish...”

“What you did is absolutely the most despiteful thing you ever did” He cut her off.

“Please let me explain it to you“ She said desperate.

“Explain what?” Blake shouted back. “Explain that you used this misery of Patricia for a dirty little plan and committed a crime yourself ?!” Now Krystle approached Blake and tried to calm him down.

“Blake, please calm down and let her at least explain.” Somehow Krystle felt that it was her fault that Fallon was in that situation. If she hadn’t pushed her into explaining everything, they might have found another place and time.

“Krystle, stay out of this please,” Blake replied sharply. “This is something that concerns only me and Fallon.” He turned back to his daughter.

“Look, I know what I did was wrong, but I also thought of you,” Fallon stated now with a raised voice. She knew that her father wouldn’t listen, if she just tried to explain this to him in a decent tone.

“What are you talking about?” Blake barked back.

“Well it’s obvious what this woman was trying to do. And is trying again,” Fallon shouted back. Blake’s face grew even angrier.

“You have absolutely no idea who this woman really is. You never cared to get to know her, because of your jealousy.” Blake also remembered how Fallon had treated his other girlfriend and Krystle. After all Krystle had almost left because of the situation with Fallon too.

“Now get out of my face, I can’t stand the sight of you,” Blake shouted. He knew that there was no use in talking anymore. He was too angry and disappointed in his eldest daughter. It was Fallon now who stared angrily back. If her father wasn’t going to give her a chance to talk, then she didn’t see any use why she should try to justify herself. Without another word she stormed out of the room.

“Blake, don’t you think you’re too hard on her?” Krystle carefully asked. She could understand Blake’s anger, but yet he had not given his daughter the chance to explain.

“Do you realize what she has done?” Blake replied still in a heated tone. “Not only has she treated Patricia in the worst way, but if somebody had found out about that Fallon with held important evidence, she could have gone to jail too! And think about Patricia! She has kept this accident a secret for twenty-five years...” Suddenly he stopped and frowned.

“Blake, what is it?” Krystle asked concerned.

“This is what she wanted to tell me, before we left,” He said and remembered the uncomfortable look on Patricia’s face, when she tried to tell him something. Then he looked at his watch and walked over to the phone.

“Whom are you going to call?” Krystle said, but already knew.

“I have to call Patricia and talk to her,” Blake replied. But Patricia wasn’t home anymore.

“She left New Zealand yesterday, She’s on her way to Denver,” Blake said as he hung up and noticed now an unfortable look on Krystle’s face.
