--As in most top-down shooters, you'll want to stay near the bottom of the screen as most of the enemies come from the top of the screen and you'll have more space to dodge their fire.

--Grab the upper hand on most enemies by destroying them before they fire on you. When you see enemies rise up from the background, lock on them and use your lock-on weapon to take 'em out before they have a chance of attacking. This will save you from having to dodge droves of enemy fire.

--Do NOT let yourself get trapped in a corner by enemy fire. If you do get trapped in a corner, use your special attack to get out. Your special attack grants you invincibility for a short time.

--When powerups appear on the screen, let them come to you. If you rush on to get the powerup, next thing you know, you'll end up being blasted to bits and that nice powerup will go away.

--Try to save your special attacks for the bosses. Not only will using your special attack hurt the boss, but grants you invincibility, enabling you to pass through its attacks.

Modes

There are two "version" modes and two difficulty modes in this game. The two version modes are Arcade Mode and Extra Mode while the two difficulty modes are Combat Mode and Training Mode. For you first-time players, the Training difficulty mode is your best bet for getting your feet wet. It's fairly easy to go through, though you only play the first four stages of the game. The Combat Mode is the mode of choice for moderate or expert players. The Combat Mode is no-holds-barred action and excitement for the fun-loving shooter fan, though it may be a bit too much for beginners. The game's default setting is on Combat Mode, so to get to Training Mode, you can either set the number of ships to a number greater than 4 or change the difficulty level of any stage to a level less than Level 4 difficulty.

You're probably wondering what Arcade Mode and Extra Mode mean. They're two different versions of the game, the Arcade Mode being the original arcade game and the Extra Mode being a slightly modified, harder game with loads of enhancements.
