I know I said this was going to be a boss page, for those who are new into the game, I'll post some of the general strategies of playing the game first, then I'll get down the the bosses. Bear with me on this, it took me a while to get the hang of things too.
--While beating your opponents senseless is cool in itself, the game isn't completely about beating the crap out of your enemies. You also have magic spells that can get you out of a situation or two, so when beating up a monster isn't that effective, use magic. It'll help more than just fighting.
--Everyone probably knows this by now, but save your game before a huge battle. That way, if you lose, you won't have to do all the difficult stuff over again. If you find yourself deep in a dungeon low on life and resources, DON'T SAVE!! Instead, get out of the dungeon and find the nearest town to rest and stock up.
--This is a pretty challenging game, so if you find yourself getting creamed by a particular enemy(ies), it's probably best to gain a few levels. After gaining a few levels, that enemy(ies) will become a cream puff and moreover, easy to beat.
--Your magic spells can get stronger too. Just keep using them. You'll also need strong magic in order to get through the tougher portions of the game.
--Check every nook and cranny of each house and building you enter. You'll find some pretty useful stuff which will be essential later in the game.
Now that I've bored you enough with the schematics, let's get on to the bosses, shall we?
When you find Noa on top of the mountain, Zeto will summon his guard dog to take you both out. Aside from all things, Caruban is no pushover, so that means don't charge into battle without a strategy. Caruban's a pretty hard hitter, with attacks that can shave off 500 HP at one time, so unless you have the right mind, you'll find yourself healing more than fighting. Since Noa's not particularly at a high enough level to hurt it that much, she should do most of the healing and defending. Vahn should have his Gimard spell high enough to cause substantial damage to it and his Tornado Flame Hyper Art will also do the trick. Just use a few Gimard spells and some Hyper Arts and Caruban will be finished.
While heading through East Voz forest, the team find out that Songi is behind the carnage at the Monastery, so he sends his two friends out to keep you quiet. Now you're up against two enemies, tough ones I might add. They're also hard hitters and can strike with a very powerful lightning spell. The Ra-Seru egg you found in West Voz Forest will be essential in surviving, since it boosts your defense against thunder. When fighting these two, it's best to take them on one at a time; the battle will be a little easier. Have Vahn and Noa attack with spells and Hyper Arts and Gala do most of the healing(he won't do much damage to them). Once the Viguros are out of the way, it's on to the next mission.
Note: If, by any chance, you happen to absorb one of the, you receive a powerful lightning spell, though the chances of this happening are pretty slim at this point of the game.
This is the first of many numerous battles you'll have with Songi throughout the game. He greets you just before you make it to Zeto in Zeto's Dungeon. However, Gala tells Vahn and Noa to stay out of it and let him fight Songi. In order for Gala to stand a fighting chance against Songi, he should be at least level 10 and has acquired the Vera spell. Like the other bosses, Songi is a hard hitter and comes with an all-powerful attack; in this case, it's Songi's Sonic Fist attack, which can take off about 240 HP of damage. If Gala's learned the Zenoir spell, it works wonders on Songi as well as his Thunder Punch Hyper Art attack. Heal when necessary and Spirit up to reduce the amount of damage he takes.
At last, you finally meet the caretaker of the first Mist Generator. Now's the time to put up or shut up. The one attack to watch out for is his Big Wave attack, which can take off 500 HP to each member. You'll know it's coming when he says "Expect a powerful attack on the next turn." Since Zeto's Big Wave is a water attack, make sure you have at least one Deep Sea Jewel to decrease the damage inflicted by the Big Wave. If you've taken the time to buy three of them, excellent!! Magic spells are not that effective in this battle(A Level 7 Gimard spell causes about 200 HP of damage), so it's best to stick with normal combos and Hyper Arts to inflict the most damage. As always, heal when necessary and you should have no trouble defeating Zeto.
You'll run into this walking weed on top of the tower in Jeremi munching on a Genesis Tree, and I must say, when it comes to fighting it, Berserker's a real mother fuddrucker as he hits hard and fast, so it's essential to have the proper weapons, armor, and equipment necessary for this battle. He has two attacks worth mentioning; one is a gas attack that causes one or more of your limbs to rot while causing extensive damage and limiting your movement and the other one is its Stone Circle attack which hits everyone for big damage(even when you Spirit up, it still causes moderate damage), though it won't start using Stone Circle until it's weakened. The Forest Amulet you found prior to this battle will come in handy as it nullifies all rot attacks and a couple of Earth Jewels will also help as those reduce the damage caused by the Stone Circle attack. As with the Zeto battle, magic will not have much of an effect on Berserker, so stick with Hyper Arts and Super Arts if you learned them. Noa's Tempest Break works well on this guy as well as two consecutive Tornado Flames(Done by spiriting up Vahn and using it twice)A high level Vera spell is essential to cure the rot off your characters should their limbs rot and regain a substantial amount of HP. Stick with this strategy and you'll have the Berserker subdued and this long, hard battle will end, enabling you to revive the Genesis Tree.
When you reach underground Octam, you start to experience earthquakes, so you and your party go into the hot depths of the volcano to investigate the cause. Once you reach the inner depths, you'll find a bull-like creature hitting the huge stone pillars holding up the town. If you interrupt his task enough times, he'll finally decide to fight you.
Xain is perhaps the toughest boss you've faced so far. He's got powerful attacks and virtually strong against everything. The one attack you should look out for is his Terio Punch, which takes off about 800-900 HP to each character and that could spell instant death if you're not prepared, so when it says "Xain is saving up strength", he's about to unleash it. He also has a move in which he grabs you by his horns and punches you for massive damage. The best strategy I've come up with so far is not to use too much MP; you'll need 'em to heal yourself when he's coming down on you. Spirit up prior to the Terio Punch to reduce the damage and have lots of healing items on hand for when you don't want to use any MPs. Use a mix of Hyper/Super Arts and magic attacks to pound him. Keep this strategy and Xain will soon go down.
When you reach the Genesis Tree in Mt. Letona, the trio notice that there's a force field around it, preventing them from saving it. Songi soon shows up and explains to them that he put the force field around the tree. He then challenge you, saying that if you beat him, he'll remove the force field.
This is the second battle you'll have with him, but this time around, the whole party gets to fight him. Even with these odds, Songi can still be more than a match for the three heroes. Being the badass that he is, Songi has some powerful attacks at his disposal, particularly his Hyper Lightning and Hyper Crush attacks. Spirit up constantly to increase your defenses and pull off some Hyper Art combos to hurt him and use most of your MPs to heal yourselves. If you don't want to waste MP, use Healing Flowers instead. Once you knock him down again, he'll remove the force field from the tree, thus allowing you to revive it.
When you return to Ratayu, you'll find out that the womenfolk are sad because their daughters were taken away to be brides of the Saryu, so in order to get to the bottom of this, Noa disguises herself as one of the brides and goes to the hidden laboratory. When Noa gets caught, it's up to Vahn and Gala to save her, but be careful; you'll have to go through some tough fights in order to reach her in time. Once you reach her and the lab, you'll end up fighting Saryu due to your interference in his plans.
Van Saryu is probably one of the easier bosses in the game, but he's still no slouch. He has an Earthquake attack that knocks you down and sends you back a couple of feet. Keep a few Healing Blooms around when you need them; they'll be handy for the upcoming battle. For attack purposes, have two characters attack and the other heal and provide additional backup when necessary. Once Van Saryu's defeated, he'll revert back to normal and the women will be free of their unholy prisons.
Now it's time to destroy the mist generator, so it's off to Dohati's Castle. Once you reach the mist generator, Dohati shows up an commends you in making it that far.
Although he has an odd appearance, he's not a pushover. He has some powerful attacks at his disposal, the most powerful being Chaos Breath. He can inflict up to 3/4 your total HP with this attack and leave you reeling. Hit him with Hyper Arts and magic, particularly Aluru(if you have it). Use a Magic Leaf when possible to regain lost MPs and Spirit up to reduce the damage of his attacks. Once Dohati's out of the way, you're free to destroy the Mist Generator and free the Sebucus Islands of the Mist.
During your adventures in Sol, you'll encounter a strange swordsman named Gaza. Gaza believes his family was killed by Seru, so he sets out on a quest to kill Seru until he can rest. When you first meet him, he mistakes you to be Seru as well and begins to attack, but you soon tell him he's making a mistake and tells you to stay out of his way. When he learns of your quest to destroy the Mist and revive the Genesis Tree, he challenges you, saying he will not allow you to revive the Genesis Tree.
For an old man, Gaza is one heck of a fighter. He has a plethora of powerful attacks including his Astral Sword attack, which can shave off a crapload of HP to any one character. Fortunately though, he tends to focus on one character at a time, so the odds are pretty much in your favor. Have the character Gaza is focused on Spirit up to reduce the damage from his Astral Sword attacks while the others heal and aid that character. Once you've done a substantial amount of damage to Gaza, Songi will appear and whisk him away.
Gaza's back for the second time around, now armed with a strong Sim-Seru and more formidable than ever. He'll challenge you again when you reached the Genesis Tree in the lower depths of Sol Tower. This time he tends to play for keeps.
If you thought Gaza was strong in the first battle, he's even stronger now. He still has pretty much the same attacks when you first fought him, but now since he has a Sim-Seru, he has a new one, called Neo Star Slash. This attack is one of his hardest as it will take off approximately 1,000 HP to all your characters. If you have the Kemaro spell, it works wonders on him as well as high-damage Arts. For curing purposes, use Spoon as it can heal your characters back to maximum power after Gaza unleashes his attacks. Once you defeat Gaza for the second time, you won't fight him again, as he'll die and be used to revive the Genesis Tree. Also, you'll get to opportunity to grab his weapon once he's defeated. It's pretty strong, but the downside to it is that you'll attack chances will be reduced, so whether you want the weapon or not, it's up to you.
You'll meet te Delilases again in the Nivora Ravine in your quest to un-freeze the city of Buma. The Delilases will stop at nothing in order to put an end to your crusade.
What's really unique about this battle is that all your characters will fight one-on-one against their corresponding boss instead of the usual three-on-one. The first battle pits Gala against Che Delilas, the second one pits Noa against Lu Delilas and the last one makes Vahn and Gi Delilas go at it. There is one catch...if you lose to any of the Delilases, you'll have to fight them all over again start with Che Delilas, so if you want to fight Gi Delilas, Gala must've have beaten Che and Noa must've beaten Lu.
While their attack methods are different, they have pretty much the same pattern. They usually do normal attacks the first two rounds and perform a Super on the third, so what this means is that if you want to succeed in battle, you must anticipate what they're gonna do and use the necessary functions to counter. My recommendation is to attack the first round, heal the second, and spirit up for the third 'cause their Supers tend to take off a lot of damage. The pattern is not hard to figure out and once you have it down, they'll be easier to beat. Have all your characters equipped with Target Chains and Defender Chains and the battle should be no trouble.
To prove that they're not out of the game yet, the Delilas merge with the seru Koru and in doing so, sets off a time bomb that will destroy all of Karisto Kingdom, so now you have to defeat Koru in order for that not to happen.
This is not your usual boss battle as you have 5 turns to defeat him. After 5 turns, he detonates and destroys everything, including you. His main attacks consist of stuff the Delilases used. So how do you beat him in 5 turns? Since you only have a limited number of turns to defeat him, hit this guy with your hardest attacks. If one of your characters has learned the Kemaro spell, use it religiously. It causes a good deal of damage to it. You may also have one of your characters(preferrably Noa)equipped with the Mettle Gem and the War Soul to boost the power of your Arts attacks. Don't worry about healing, cause all that'll do is waste one of your turns. Keep whacking him with Super Arts, Miracle Arts, the Kemaro spell and the Point Card if you have it and you'll have the monster beat before he can explode.
Making your way through the Floating Castle, you'll find the guardian of the Mist Generator, Zora. She also has a Ra-Seru egg with her and she's definitely not going to just hand it over to them.
Like all the bosses, Zora is no pushover either. The attacks to watch out for are her Dark Typhoon attack, which shaves off hundreds of HPs and her Glare attack, which turns a character to stone. Not only that, her physical attacks pack a little punch as well. As far as beating her is concerned, you'll want to have the Barra spell Hell Dive. If Noa has it, it's super effective against Zora. Other than that, attack with Super Arts and Miracle Arts and heal when necessary. Keep this up and Zora will become another notch in your trophy.
After going back in time to Conkram in the past, you trek to Rogue's Tower, but before you get to Rogue himself, you must face off with his guards.
This Berserker is no different than the one you fought in Jeremi other than the apparent color change and an increase in HPs. Use the same strategy from its predecessor to take it out. You should have no trouble dispatching him. Likewise with the Caruban, you should have no trouble beating him either.
You will also face Lv. 3 versions of the same enemies. They do the same thing so this strategy should be enough to take these ones out as well.
After treking the tower, you'll eventually come up to a large diamond-like creature. This creature is the cause of all the Mist problems and if you want to get rid of the Mist, you'll have to beat him.
Rogue can change its element throughout the course of the battle, which can affect what attacks he use and what is most effective against it. His attacks can take off somewhere in the range of 700-1,500 HP, so be careful. If it changes to your element, then your attacks will not be as effective against it, so wait until it changes into your element's reciprocal form for maximum effectiveness. Use your best attacks and magic to hurt it and heal when your HPs are low. When you done enough damage to it, Rogue will crack and shatter to a million pieces. Once he's gone, the Mist will be gone from Conkram.
After returning to the present, Queen Minea tells you a story about how Cort gained his evil ambitions and tells Noa that he is her brother. Afterwards, she tells you the location of the last Mist Generator and instructs the trio to go there and destroy it. Before reaching the generator, you are stopped by Jette, who will stop at nothing to make sure you don't make it to the generator itself.
At the beginning of the battle, Jette splits himself in two. What this means is that he attacks for double the damage. The clones are pretty easy to beat and I heard you can get numerous Miracle Waters from them for each clone you beat. Meanwhile, Jette himself is a different matter. He can also perform his Shadow Break attack for massive damage, so watch out. The more clones he makes, the more likely he'll use Shadow break, so be careful. Like all the other bosses, hurt him with Miracle Arts and Super Arts as well as your magic, but be sure no to use too much magic as you'll need your MPs for healing. Once Jette is defeated, you are free to attack the rest of the fortress in search of the Mist Generator.
Alas, you finally reached the generator and the man behind the evil that has plagued the world. It's now time to put up or shut up. If you want to save the world, you must put an end to this madness.
Cort starts off protected by a force shield which cannot be damaged by normal attacks, so to get him to lower his shield, you gotta use Arts attacks on it. When you caused enough damage to it, the shield will dissipate and the real battle will finally begin. He'll use basic attacks at first, but as time passes, he'll call in Juggernaut to help him dish out some pain. If you're not careful, these attacks can do some serious damage, if not, kill you outright. Hit him with all your most powerful attacks, though Gala seems to be the most effective against Cort as he can inflict approximately 4,000 HPs on him. As always, heal when necessary or everytime he summons Juggernaut. Once Cort's defeated, the Mist Generator will be destroyed and the Mist that has plagued the world will be gone. But is this really the end?
After finding the Mother Genesis tree in Noaru Valley, Songi shows up again to ruin your fun. He then turns into this hideous creature and connects himself to the genesis tree in order to give him more power and to prevent you from getting to it. This is the last time you'll face Songi in the game, so if you want to survive, let loose with all your might!
Songi pack a wallop with huge attacks inflicting around 2,000 points of damage while his Genocidal Cannon can tear through somebody, even with high defenses. Since his attacks take off so much damage, healing is an absolute necessity if you want to get through this battle. Not only that, this battle is going to take you a while to complete since he has so much HPs. If you don't have an abundant amount of Healing Berries or have the Spoon spell, don't even think about fighting him. Of course, you can do it with a high-level Orb spell, but it won't heal as much. The best strategy I've found for him is to spirit up every chance you get to reduce the damage of his attacks. Defender Chains are also a good plan to reduce damage as well. Also, have one character(preferrably Gala) stick to healing and the rest attack with Super Arts and Miracle Arts. This is going to be a long battle, so make sure you're prepared. After beating him, the Serus will detach from Songi and he will be sent back to the real world. Take a breather or two...you'll need it.
After venturing through the Juggernaut-consumed Rim Elm, you'll find the real cause of all your troubles from the beginning. This time, Cort has lost what was left of his humanity and has bonded with Juggernaut to complete his diabolical task. This is the final boss of this entertaining game, so give it your all!! The fate of the world depends on it.
As in all RPGs, the last boss has almost always the most powerful attacks and this one is no exception. His physical attacks alone hit for around 2,000 HP of damage to one character and his Final Crisis can tear through an unprepared party. He usually does his Doomsday Charge, which sets up the Final Crisis, but be prepared just in case!
My recommendation for fighting the final boss is that you have your characters in the low and mid-40s with at least 3,000 HPs. If you don't have that much, equip some Life Armbands. Be sure to look out for his Doomsday Charge. This is his power-up move for the Final Crisis, which can hit you for around 2,000-3,000 HPs to all characters. Spirit up to reduce the damage you absorb 'cause he's a pretty hard hitter as well. Use Miracle Arts and Super Arts to wear him down, although a high-powered Aluru or Kemaro spell will also inflict big damage to him. Be sure to have enough healing items 'cause with the huge amount of HPs he has, this is going to be a long battle. Once you defeat him, sit back and enjoy the cutscenes that follow and give yourself a pat on the back for finishing this challenging game.
To fight this boss, return to Rim Elm with all 3 characters and go to the tree on the left next to Tetsu. Nene will ask you to get some honey for you, but before you do, you must face three angry bees.
If you take these on late in the game, you should have no problem beating them, but if you take them on early, you're going to need a little strategy. The one attack to look out for is their Toxic Sting, which will shave off 300 HPs from one character. This shouldn't be anything to worry about if you have high levels, but if your levels are pretty low, you're going to have a hard time beating them. Just simply use regular Arts attacks to beat them and soon they'll bite the dust and you'll be able to take the sweet Honey that the bees worked so hard on to protect.
Once you get the Honey, you can do two things with it. You can: A) Keep it and use it for later use. It boosts all stats by 4 points, or B) Give it to Nene. With it, she'll make a cake out of it. My recommendation is to keep the honey, as it'll help you out in the long run.
To fight this boss, go the the summit of Mt. Dhini anytime after going to the Soren Camp for the first time. Once you encounter, be prepared for a fight, and I mean fight!
The guys at Contrail took a cue from another famous RPG in the form of super-tough optional bosses, such is the case of Lapis here. This bird hits you pretty hard, even harder than the last boss!! If that wasn't bad enough, it sucks all the MPs out of your characters at the beginning of the battle, making the battle even tougher(you won't be able to use those oh-so-essential healing spells you have). So, what's a person to do if you wanna beat this guy? Well, for starters, have your levels pretty high, preferrably in the high 60s, have all the Ra-Seru stuff equipped(the stuff you found inside Juggernaut), and a crapload of healing items(Phoenixes and Healing Berries). You may also want to equip the Lost Grail on someone to insantly recover from death. Hit this bird with all your hardest attacks and don't let up! Magic is virtually useless so don't even think about using it. Once you beat if(after a hard battle), you'll get the Evil Medallion, which is a good accessory to have(it lets a character attack multiple times in a battle). If you think you have what it takes to beat Lapis, go for it!
