Character Information
Fighters
Fighters are extremely effective in hand-to-hand combat and are the most powerful
characters in the game. They can use just about any weapon and wear just about
any type of armor. This character is a good one for all types of parties, especially
for beginners. Upgrade to Knight to get the maximum effectiveness out of this class.
Thieves
Thieves are pretty strong too, but they are not as strong as fighters. Their strength
lies in their speed and is a must-have character for a person who wants speed in their party. Thieves also can use just about any weapon in the game, just like fighters. A must-have
if you want to escape from fierce battles. You can upgrade this class to Ninja to make this class better.
Black Belts
Black Belts are the weakest characters at the start of the game and as a result, are severely limited in terms of using weapons and armor, but he's a vital character to use because he has a
tendency to land critical hits more often and that he has the highest HP in the game. Weapons hinder the black belt's performance later on in the game, so remove any weapons he's carrying to ensure optimum performance from this character. Upgrade to Master for better performance from these guys.
Red Mages
Red Mages are the all-around characters in the game. They can fight effectively with swords and use both black and white magic. The only downside to this character is that
they are limited in their choice of higher level spells. These guys become obsolete in the later levels, so if you want to upgrade this guy, it's your choice.
White Mages
White Mages aren't that effective in combat, but they'll come to in the heat of the battle with their curative and protective spells. One specialty of the White Mage is their ability
to fight the undead. These characters are also must-haves in any party. Upgrade to White Wizard to get the maximum effectiveness out of this class.
Black Mages
Black Mages also aren't that effective in combat, but, like the white mages, these characters will also come to in the heat of battle with their powerful attack spells. A black mage can kill
a whole monster party with just one spell, which makes them pretty effective characters to have in any party. Upgrade to a Black Wizard to have access to all the attack spells.
I'm not gonna comment on the advanced classes because they're pretty much the same as the basic classes.
