Final Fantasy II Secrets

For all you die-hard Final Fantasy fans, here's all the secrets on this fine masterpiece (well, not all the secrets, but the ones I know of)

Secret Weapons and Armor

Excalibur Sword

Remember the "Items that Have No Significance"? Well, it looks like they do have some significance after all. To get the second most powerful sword in the game, the Excalibur. give the tail you find in the Land of Summoned Monsters to the collector in the mine near Silvera and he'll give you the Adamant Ore. Take the Adamant Ore to Kokkol the Smith, who's house is located southeast of the Castle of Dwarves. He then forges it into the powerful Excalibur.

Glass Helmet

This is the BEST helmet you can acquire. Anyone can wear it. The only way to get it is to fight the EvilMasks in the Crystal Tiles near the core.

Power Suit Armor

You can obtain this armor by fighting the Red Dragons in the Crystal Tiles near the core. This is not very good armor because it doesn't resist Ice, Lit, or Fire attacks and has low capabilities.

Brecelets of Strength

These aren't clearly explained in the book, but there is a place where you can find them. Just search the left tower in the Dwarf Castle and you'll find them.

Medusa Sword

This is also not explained in the manual. This is dubbed as a "top secret" weapon. This cannot be bought nor stolen from an opponent. The only way to obtain it is to fight the creature called BlackLiz. This only happens once in a blue moon, meaning you must plan two or three hours before obtaining this weapon. Even though this weapon is top-secret, it only has an attack power of 77 and is rumored to turn enemies to stone.

Rune Axe

This is the best axe you can get in the game. Obtain it by fighting the Red Giants on the Moon. This weapon is extremely effective on magic-users.

Avenger Sword

This is the fifth most powerful weapon in the game. This sword hits for 2000 hit points of damage every time, although it has an attack power of only 85 and it chooses it's own enemy to attack. Also, this is also a two-handed weapon. To find it, go into the Sylph cave and find the passage that leads to a black hole in the ground. Enter the hole and you'll be in a room full of chests. When opening the chests, you'll encounter monsters before getting the treasure. Take the FullMoon weapon as well. For specifics, the Avenger Sword is in the lower row of chests in the middle chest.

Slumber Sword

This sword puts enemies to sleep. You can find it in the Ruins of Eblan. In the ruins, go into the left tower and check both sides of the wall near the door. You'll find a secret passage to a chest, but before getting the sword, you'll have to fight a couple of Stalemen. Note: If you use this repeatedly in a battle, the enemy will eventually become immune to if for that battle.

Stardust Staff

This is the most powerful staff a black magic user can obtain. This can be found near the Core.

Dragoon Spear

The Dragoon Spear is a pretty useful weapon for Kain. It even has a cool sound when it connects. It sometimes kills enemies instantly. This wonderful weapon can be obtained by fighting Red Dragons in the Core. You will also have to plan about 2 to 3 hours of your time in order to get this.

Crystal Ring

This is a powerful piece of armor that can be essential in battle. You can obtain it by fighting the Red Dragons until they drop a piece of treasure.

Crystal Armor

You can find a complete set of Crystal Armor in the Core. You gotta search for it, for they will be close together.

Dragoon Armor

You can also find a complete set of Dragoon Armor in the Core. As for the Crystal Armor, you must search for them. They will be close together.

Ribbon Helmets

These special helmets are a must-have for a Caller and a White Wizard. You can find them as all the other extremely powerful stuff in the Core. Beware, there are two D. Lunars guarding it.

Items and Places

Porno Mag

Ahhh, the famous Porno Mag. When you use this, a box will show up saying "Getting Very Excited", the screen will turn pink, and the Dancing Calbrena music will play. You could obtain this in the development room(see below)

This item was taken out of the American version, so don't waste time in finding it, 'cause you're not going to. If you have the original Japanese version, it can be found.

Final Fantasy II Development Room

This is a secret room built into the game. You get to meet all the people who made the game.

This, like the Porno Mag, was also taken out of the American version. Boy, what a let-down. You can only find this in the original Japanese version.

Other Stuff

Here's something that you didn't know: There were 2 versions of this game made. One was the "hard" version and the other was the "easy" version. In case you're wondering, the "easy" version was the one released here in the US. In the "hard" version, the enemies were a lot tougher.

There's rumored to be an item that can un-stone Palom and Porom when they turned themselves to stone when the castle walls were caving in. Well, that item cannot be found in the American version. I should know, I've searched everywhere for it and didn't find it.
