Chrono Trigger Characters
Here is a list of all the characters you'll meet or fight in the game.
Crono
Elemental: Lightning
Crono is the main character and hero of the game. What was originally a trip to the fair has now become a quest for him to save the world from a cosmic chaos named Lavos. Throughout the game, most of the events will revolve around him.
His skill lies in his sword.
Crono is one of the most powerful characters in the game. His sword attacks alone will inflict a massive amount of damage to foes. Combined with the magic of Lightning, Crono will prove to be an unstoppable force in the game.
Marle
Elemental: Water
Marle, or Princess Nadia, tired of living a life of royalty, decides she wants to get a taste of normal life. She meets Crono at the fair and the two become good friends. Marle soon become part of the adventure when she is sent back in time after trying one of Lucca's inventions.
Marle is not very proficient in physical combat, making her one of the weaker characters in the games. Her magic spells are invaluable and will often mean either victory or defeat in the heat of battle. Marle should be used for casting magic.
Lucca
Elemental: Fire
Lucca is a young scientist and Crono's best friend. What you call junk, Lucca calls a work of art. She and her father spend most of their time working on inventions. While showing off her matter teleportation device at the fair, she accidentaly sends a person back in time, and thus she is pulled into the fray.
Lucca, like Marle, is not very strong, but she can pull through in a heartbeat with her powerful magic. Like Marle, she should be used for magic casting most of the time.
Frog
Elemental: Water
Frog was once Queen Leene's protector during the Middle Ages. While fighting Magus, his best friend, Cyrus was killed and Glenn, who Frog was back then, was turned into a frog. Vowing that he would someday defeat Magus, Frog searches the world for the sword that can defeat him, the Masamune.
Frog, like Crono, is proficient in the use of swords and is just as strong, if not, stronger than Crono. His spells count as a backup plan if his sword techniques are not effective. He should be mainly used for physical combat.
Robo
Elemental: None (though his attacks inflict Shadow damage)
Robo is a robot in the future. His former name was Prometheus. Not much else is known about his past. I will let you know if anything turns up about his past.
Robo is also a powerful character and most of his attacks are physical attacks. He can't learn any magic 'cause he's a robot, but the attacks he learn will suffice.
Ayla
Elemental: None
Ayla is the head leader of the Ioka Village in the Prehistoric Age. She lives for fighting and perhaps eating. When the Reptites attack, she'll usually be the first to charge toward them. She joins Crono and the gang after they defeated the Reptites and learns that Lavos is coming.
Ayla is extremely powerful, probably more powerful than Crono.
She has no need for magic as she lets her fists do most of her talking. She can have an elemental, such as Lightning, cast on her to ensue added damage.
Magus
Elemental: Shadow
The dark lord of the Middle Ages, Magus is a pretty secretive character. His stern facade strikes fear into the hearts of his enemies. Now realizing that he made a mistake in summoning Lavos to this world, he joins the gang on their journey.
Magus physical strength is mostly compared to Robo, as they both inflict just about the same amount of damage to enemies. He also has some very powerful spells he can learn. He should be used to cast spells and fight physical, that's how good he is.
Ozzie
Ozzie is the leader of Magus's forces in the Middle Ages who is an arrogant little fool who can't back up his words. He can also be a pain in the you-know-what. After Magus is defeated, he takes over as the dark lord of the Middle Ages.
Flea
Flea is a cross-dresser of sorts and one of Magus's henchmen in the Middle Ages who is more concerned with his beauty than fighting. You'll meet him in Magus's castle.
Slash
Slash is Magus's other right-hand man and a skilled swordsman. His skills are without equal and is capable of cutting up the most gullible fool in a matter of seconds. You'll also meet him in Magus's castle.
Melchior
Melchior is the a skilled weapons expert and one of the 3 Gurus. He proves to be quite an asset to the game once Lavos has awakened and helps the party from time to time.
Gaspar
Gaspar is another of the 3 Gurus who is trapped in the End of Time. When the main character sacrifices his life for the safety of his friends, Gaspar will be quite an important character in his resurrection.
Belthasar
Belthasar is the last Guru who got trapped in the future and became insane because of his dilemma. He is also made the Epoch time machine and the Wings of Time.
Schala
Schala is a profound scholar of magic in the Dark Ages and is rumored to be Magus's long lost sister. She will be a useful asset in the upcoming battles against Queen Zeal.
