| MiddlesexCounty Needs an Upgrade | |||||||||
| ����������� I have lived in Middlesex County Deltaville, Virginia all of my twenty-five years, and there is a lot lacking there. It is more a retirement area now, and the other people that live there like it to remain bland. We have one fast food restaurant in the area, which is a Hardees, and the really important people of the county weren't too happy with that. The other restaurants in the area are German, Pizza (Italian) and seafood. After awhile, you get tired of the same thing, but nothing really changes in MiddlesexCounty.� If you want variety, you have to travel out of the county to the next which would be Gloucester. But if you want to go all out, the Peninsula is the next best thing. | |||||||||
| ����������� When I was a teenager, there was nothing for a kid my age to do but go home after school unless you played sports or you went to some of the games.� Otherwise it was very dull and boring. MiddlesexCounty could really use a community center or a YMCA. They really need to think about the kids that are coming up, there is nothing to look forward to especially during the summer months. I know when school was out for the summer, I would be at home waiting for school to start back up again. If you're a preteen on up, you get tired of watching the "Young & the Restless" with your grandmother every summer. | |||||||||
| ����������� There have been lots of break ins and vandalism through the years since I've grown up. I believe this is because the kids' are bored. This is the most excitement they feel they're going to experience. We have had kids break into a market they cut a hole in the roof and stole an ATM, and a truck was stolen and launched far in to the Piankatank River. I don't know exactly how they did it I just know it was done. This really should be the sign for the county officials that we need something to keep the youth occupied during all times. A game room would be nice; it would be a start. | |||||||||

My brother has been locked up twice for mischief, the last time he was sent to a detention/boot camp, he's nineteen.� My sister is sixteen, she is spending her summer sitting at home bugging me mainly because of the lack of a community center of some type. My sister goes to the library and reads, but that's getting old. I'm just glad she hasn't taken the alternative of vandalizing or other criminal activity.� A community center would do MiddlesexCounty good. I believe it would bring down the teenage criminal activity, because it would keep the kids' active and give them some social activity. Unless your family is wealthy and you go away every summer, there is nothing to get excited about if you spend a summer in MiddlesexCounty.� This is why I say MiddlesexCounty needs an upgrade. | |||||||||
| How would all of this be possible? They community could pulled together and possible take donations, and have fund raisers. I believe anything is possible. This could be a reality instead of a mirage. This is definitely a situation where the people of this community need to pull together and make this happen. | |||||||||
