Sunday at Kings Dominion
I planned a trip to Kings Dominion on a Sunday with my sister and some of her friends. I decided to bring food and drinks along so we could save money. One of my sisters' had printed out a discount coupon for half of the price off from the Internet, but then she got a better deal on the tickets for $10. The regular ticket price for a ticket is $42.99 so I think we got a really good deal. Kings Dominion is located in Doswell, Virginia near Richmond, which is about an hour an a half from where I live in Deltaville,  Virginia.
Kings Dominion has something for everyone young and old. They have, family rides, thrill rides a water park and the kids have their own zone. Some of the family rides are, the Sponge Square Pants a 3D simulator movie where you have to create the ultimate crabby patty. The Ricochet is a fast ride with many twist and turns. The Scooby Doo is an oldie but goodie roller coaster. The log flume is a water ride in a log boat. There is also the carousel, bumper cars, wave swing which is similar to the carousel except it can rise up a short distance in the air, and the Blue Ridge Toll way where you take a ride through a scenic track in gas powered antique cars. If you want you can take an elevator to the top of EiffelTower, and really get a good look at the park.
In the thrill department they have two new rides. The Drop Zone is a 305 ft giant stunt tower. This ride takes you up 305 ft. lets you hang there for a couple seconds, and then drops you at a speed of up to 72 mph with duration of 1 minute 33 seconds. The second new ride is called the Hypersonic XLC. The Hypersonic XLC is a compressed air roller coaster. Other thrill rides are the Flight of Fear, a rollercoaster which is in semi darkness on a totally enclosed track. The Shockwave is a stand up rollercoaster. The Volcano Blast Coaster shoots you out of a flaming volcano. It takes you through many loops and turns before a final 80 ft. drop.
The WaterPark has slides, chutes, pools with big waves,  and they also have pools and slides just for the kids. PipelinePeak has 4 slides. Night Slider is tube enclosed in darkness. The BigWaveBay is a 650,000 gallon wave pool with giant 4 ft. waves. LilBarefootBeach is a splash pool for the kids. Lazy Rider is a mile river raft ride where you can lay back and relax. There are also speed slides that have a 70 ft. free falls and some the shoot you out into a 42' deep splash pool.
On my trip to Kings Dominion I brought my own food, because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on food in the park. If your not money conscious they have a variety to select from. It ranges from seafood, burgers, subs, ribs, chicken, pizza, and there is always something for people with a sweet tooth.
Drop Zone
If you really want to have a good time at Kings Dominion plan to visit on the weekdays during the summer, fewer people are usually in the park. Sometimes rainy and cloudy days are good because the lines are shorter. Always try to bring along a change of clothes, a jacket, hat, and sunscreen. These items are good for protection from the sun, and good if you plan to ride water rides or if it gets cool in the evening. Since you'll probably do a lot of walking I recommend a pair of comfortable shoes.
If you want to have unlimited summer fun Season Passes are available. Season Passes range from $89.99 for the individual to $284.99 for a family of four. These are really good to have because they are valid during all public operating days.  I enjoyed my Sunday at Kings Dominion from the group I was with to the whole atmosphere. I would definitely make the trip to Kings Dominion again and I would recommend it to anyone who loves to have fun.
