| Title: Second Chance Rating: Well go with T Relationship: Marco x Dylan Time: After Its Raining Men but before I Want Candy. ************************************************************************ Marco stared through the glass window of the library and sighed heavily. He gazed at the mess of blonde girls, small blue eyes, and the cutest little smile he had ever had the pleasure of viewing. It was Dylan Michalchuck, his friend Paiges, older brother. Not to mention, gay brother. He was sitting in the library, reading as he did a lot, periodically getting up for something. Another book, to copy a page. It was so sexy, at least in Marcos mind. It had been about six months since Marco finally came to terms with his homosexuality. He had been questioning his orientation for quite a bit of time, and even told his best friend Ellie Nash about his confusion and went as far as pretending to date her. However a trip to the beach with their friends brought her to break it off, if you can even call it that. That forced a brutal outing of Marcos new lifestyle, a major uncomfortable atmosphere with his friend Spinner, which then in turn caused him to be bashed by a group of homophobes. But...the beach was the first time Marco had met Dylan. After months of yearning from afar, flirting as discreetly as Marco knew how(which wasnt discreet at all, seeing as Marco had no experience what so ever), and trying to act as just friends with Dylan, Marcos friend, Spinner(yeah, hes over the whole gay thing now), helped him get a date with the boy he had been longing for, for so long. Dylan finally asked him to go see a movie and get a bite to eat after a very uncomfortable confrontation with Spinner. Spin had convinced him that Marco and Dylan would really hit it off. To Marco it was heaven. To Dylan it was incredibly exciting. Unknown to both of them, however, things never go as planned. Dylan picked up Marco at Spinners house(since Marcos parents have no idea that Marco is gay)and was greeted with a stylish, however highly inappropriate and embarrassing for the date they had planned, pimp hat. As he tried to calm down from the embarrassing situation, yet another fear hit Marco right in the face, as he spotted a bee in the car. And of course, as luck would have it, Marco has a extreme phobia of bees. Once they got some food and went to the movie, things took a better turn. Marco, shy as a sheep, touched Dylans hand in and attempt to hold it. When he shied back, Dylan was nothing but thrilled to hold the boys hand. When Marco thought things couldnt go wrong, they did. With fate against him, Marcos homophobic parents who have no idea hes gay, show up right after his hand-holding movie. And what a surprise, they decide to invite Dylan to dinner! And to put the icing on the cake, Marcos father started to insult gay people, making rush off faster than ever. However, things look up when Marco encounters Dylan afterwords, and accepts his apology with a kiss! Marco gulped. And so there he was. Looking in scared, not knowing exactly what to Marcos eyes grew heavy. It had been about a week since their kiss. He could still imagine that moment, going faster and faster in his head every time he thought of it. And yet, Dylan and him still had barely exchanged more than two words in a row since. Paige said she could tell that he was totally still interested, but after the longest five days of his life, and no plans for tonight, he was about to give up. As Marco turned to go away, he stopped. He felt a pair of gorgeous eyes staring into his back. No, it couldnt be, he said to himself. But none the less, he turned around to see Dylan staring intently back. When he knew he had his attention, Dylan motioned with his index finger to come there. Marco could barely contain a squeal of excitement. He jumped up and down smiling broadly, not even caring that Dylan was inside chuckling. He practically sprinted into the book filled room, regaining his casual cool and composure when there was no escape for Dylan. Hey there, he said casually. Marco nearly melted. How could he make something as simple as hey there sound so sexy? Hi! Marco squeaked. A look of pure terror spread across his face as he realized the noise that just came out of his mouth. The same way Dylan makes every word sound completely and totally delicious, is the same way he makes everything sound completely and utterly dorky. Dylan chuckled, but then his face went to mischievous as he looked around at the people all around them. Follow me, he whispered slyly. Marco smiled, quickly trying to forget his squeak. The climbed the stairs to the small second level of their school library. Why was he taking him here? There was nothing up here that anyone ever checked out, not to mention nothing that said romantic at all. When they got to a small corner where Marco couldnt see the bottom floor at all, Dylan took a quick look around then turned to Marco, he leaned in, and Marco felt his cheeks start to turn red. He felt the strong boys cheek brush his own as his lips pressed softly, then more fiercely together. At first they were just small kisses like the last one, however Marco was surprised to feel Dylans tongue slip into his mouth and touch his own. As quick as it had started it was finished as Marco wished it had never ended. Wow. Marco said, eyes still closed. The slowly opened to view that sexy smile. Thats a step up from last time. They both laughed softly and quietly. Their small chuckles quickly dissipated. I was thinking about you...a lot. He smiled Marco laughed to himself. Back at ya. Ive wanted to talk to you all week. He looked down. Dylan lifted his chin. Then you should have. Because you know, when I mean what are you doing next Friday, he looked at Marco with a smile, I do mean Friday. Marco smiled. He was afraid he wouldnt want to go out with him after this whole week. What was he thinking? And so since, you know, today is Friday..., Marco held his breath. Contain yourself boy. Breathe, You wanna go out? Marco leapt at him with a bear hug. Screw containing yourself. ************************************************************************ Marco scrambled around his bedroom, clothes everywhere. Not again. He had done this last time too. He couldnt last much longer, and finally broke. He didnt want too, and he had been told not to, but he had to call Spinner. He had no idea what to wear. And since Spinner had chosen his ensemble last time, what would it hurt to have him do it this time too? One ring, two ring, three ring. Come on Spinner, pick up! Marco said to himself sweating like a pig. Four rings, five rings. An very sleepy answer came. It was sort of a cross between hello and go to hell, Marco thought, but he didnt waste time pondering that. Spinner? Its Marco. Look how fast can you come over? Marco, are you aware that Ive been up for the past three days? he said gaining consciousness and anger all in one breath. Hey, dont blame me for the fact that you stayed up all night playing that stupid video game. RPGs rot the brain. Now, youve got to help me. I dont know what to wear and Dylan will- Del Rossi, the dudes not going out with me. Hes going out with you. Decide for yourself this time around. Besides whatever you pick hell like. And before you open your mouth like Im sure your about to do, trust me on this. The guys crazy for you. With that there was a click as the dial tone picked up. Marco rolled his eyes and tossed the phone back onto the bed. Great, now what was he supposed to do? But what was Spinner talking about? Dylan and him had only had one date. He couldnt possibly be head over heals for him, like Spinner thinks. And after their first date? No, he was just a crush. But what about the kiss? Well whatever Dylans feelings, he had to make them change to be just what Marco wanted. And that was going to start tonight...with the right outfit. Marco went over to his full length mirror near the bathroom door. He scanned his image in the mirror, up and down. He wore a white polo with one thick orange and yellow line through the center. He wore a Indian-style pendant and a matching wrist band. To top it off we wore green cargo pants with black K-Swiss sneakers. He was getting closer, but it still wasnt right. He started to take off his shirt when he heard the door bell ring. His eyes shot open, as he slowly turned to look at the wall clock. 5:45. It wasnt six yet. He wouldnt come this early, Marco thought. Or would he? He heard the front door open. Then his heart truly sank. His mother was home. It was better than having his dad here, but it was still a parent. A parent that had no idea her son was gay. Marco raced down the stairs faster than he had ever done. Just then both his mother and Dylan stopped laughing to look up in surprise at the out of breath boy. He was sweating a bit too, but that wasnt because of running. Wait...they were laughing? They both stared at him with a confused look on their faces when Marco remembered, that they didnt know Dylan was gay. On top of that they liked Dylan when they met him. And even a bigger relief to him was he knew Dylan wouldnt tell his mother that they were going out...yet He was a good guy. With a killer body, now that he realized it. Marco, whats wrong? his mother said in a concerned tone and a thick Italian accent. Dylan only smiled a big grin and snickered to himself. Nothing Ma. I just forgot to tell you that...that me and Dylan have plans to hang out tonight. I didnt want you to get mad. He was lying through his teeth, but biting back laughter just the same. Somehow, Dylan and Marco were having a conversation with each other, just by laughing to themselves and staring at one another. Oh, Marco why would I get mad? Dylan was just about to tell me a funny story that happened to you two in the library today. Marco knew that it wasnt going to be the actual story and lost it right there. Dylan just bit his lip and smiled. Marco whats so funny? Your acting strange today. She said, perplexed on what was happening around her. Nothing Ma. We better go, or well be late. With that Marco said goodbye to his mother and walked out to Dylans car. There they stood for a moment. You came early, Marco said with a grin. Well yeah, there wasnt anything better to do, and the day was dragging on enough as it is. Excitement I guess..., he trailed off and smiled. Marco looked down at his shoes and blushed. Well hey punctuality never hurt right? Not at all. Dylan smiled and opened Marcos door for him. He thanked him as he got inside and smelt Dylans sweet scent of cologne overtake him. What was just eight seconds, seemed like an eon as Marco waited for the sexy man to get in on the other side. He couldnt wait for the actual date to start. As Dylan started the car he said, By the way you look great. It was a genuine comment. I like the wrist band. Very nice substitute for the club hat. They both laughed, Marco a little embarrassed. Not only did Dylan not suffer amnesia of all of Marcos faults, but he had also not been able to change. Ah, well. Dylan didnt seem to mind. Thanks. You look great too. He was wearing a blue zip-up that said Varsity in yellow lettering on it. It really complemented his curls well. Thanks. So you ready? I thought wed go ice skating. How about it? Marcos smile fell. All he could do was shake his head when Dylan asked him if that was okay...twice. Who was he kidding? He couldnt ice skate. This was going to be The Date from Hell Part 2. ************************************************************************ Dylan stepped onto the ice and turned around to face Marco with an encouraging smile. He saw the nervous face of his man crush, and could only smile inside as well. He knew from the car ride to the rink that Marco couldnt skate. He was a terrible liar. But Dylan could teach him. And it would give him an excuse to hold his hand. Marco set a blade onto the ice and grasped to the wall. He set his other skate down and stumbled a little, as he held onto the ledge for dear life. I havent skated in a while, he said as he blushed. Well, since I was eight. Heh. Here take my hand. Dylan held out both of his hands eagerly as the boy across from him smiled sheepishly. Marco took Dylans gloved and hand, and even through the cotton fabric, a jolt went up Dylans spine. Was this love? I mean it was a bit soon, seeing as they had only been on two dates, but he had known Marco a while(not to mention thought about Marco for a while). Plus, he usually was a good judge of compatibility. Dylan pulled the shy Marco out on to the ice and his face started to loosen up, but only a little. Thats it. One, two, one two. An hour went by. Marco was finally getting the hang of skating. He could stand, turn, stop, and best of all started smiling again. However, even with all of this, he never let go of Dylans hand. So um Dylan? Dylan looked down at Marco. I hope you dont mind me asking but...uh, how many boyfriends have you had? I mean if you want to tell me that is. Dylan was a little reluctant. Should he tell Marco how many boyfriends he had? Maybe the right answer was to tell him he didnt have any, and that Marco was his first boyfriend. But that wasnt believable. Besides did he really want to start out a relationship with lies? He thought a moment then said, Three. My first boyfriend was in eighth grade with a guy named Eric. That lasted about two months and was my first kiss. Then in tenth grade I dated Kevin. That lasted a year. And finally, ending the ex-boyfriends tale, there was Seth who was last years boyfriend and lasted six months. He finished this off with a weak grin and very blushed cheeks. Marco smiled at him. Thanks for being honest. Dylan smiled with relief and after that embarrassing moment they went to the snack bar to split some loaded fries. So then hope you havent had any unfortunate encounters with bees. Dylan said affectionately between a bite of fries. They both laughed. Nope Ive been lucky. Hope you havent had any more dreadful experiences with killer whales. They laughed again. Okay, so Dylan deserved that one. As their laughter died down Marco asked, I really like hanging out with you. Well I mean dating you. He started to blush. Wow, this guy is great. Dylan was speechless, he was so happy. Unfortunately for him, that sent the wrong signals to Marco. In fear that the silence meant Dylan wasnt interested or that it wasnt the right thing to say at the time, Marco started to uncontrollably babble. Dylan laughed, since he didnt follow a thing that was being said. Over the loudspeaker, the DJ announced the last dance of free skate for couples only. Dylan had an idea. If I asked you to skate with me, in front of everyone for the last couples skate, would that do as a response? Dylan grinned, and Marco let out a breath of relief. He shook his head. When they got to the arena part of the rink, Dylan looked at Marco. He really did think he might be falling in love with this boy. Marco looked up and smiled, then offered his hand to Dylan. Dylan smiled back and tucked his hand into Marcos. A perfect fit. They stepped onto the rink and the magic began. They glided perfectly together over the ice without one falter as We Belong Together by Mariah Carey played in the background. They felt each others warm hand and talked about nothing, everything, and all of that in between. Its like when you first meet that one true love, Dylan thought. Marco really makes me happy. I think we could make this work. No, I want this to work. I want to go out with Marco Del Rossi. I might just...just....With that Dylan stopped Marco and gazed into his big brown eyes. As gravity started to pull them together they heard it. God who let the homos in. Cant they just kill off all the gays and get it over with? They both looked up shocked to see two boys and a girl who looked like a boy, standing to the side mocking them. I hate queers so much. Dont they have the decency to stay at home and do that shit, sneered one with a blue mohawk. What did you say to us? Dylan was getting angry. It was enough he had to deal with this himself, but he didnt want Marco to have to too. He squinted his eyes and put on the face that he put on right before going into a big hockey game. Go to hell, fag, and take your boyfriend with you. The girl/boy said. Dylan started moving toward them, and you could see them start to shake but he felt a hand stop him. Dont Dyl. Lets get out of here. It was Marco. Dylan looked into his big brown eyes once again and only saw complete sincerity. Marco, we got to stand up for ourselves. Its only right. I know but not tonight. Lets just get out of here. Go somewhere...private. He smiled an optimistic smile and Dylan completely melted. Okay, Mr. Marco. Whatever you say. He gave the finger to the group of homophobes and then the two lovebirds were off. ************************************************************************ Marco sat on the green plastic swing. Its not that he didnt want to stand up for his rights, and the fact that he was gay, but not tonight. Dylan and him were just starting to hit it off, and he didnt need a trip to the hospital for getting beat up screw that up. Not that Dylan wouldnt win or anything, he just couldnt take the chance. And what would he tell his parents? His father especially. Along with escaping death, he did truly want to be alone with Dylan. He wanted to feel that tongue of his sexy crush in his mouth again. He wanted to be with Dylan. They sat, side by side on a playground, watching the almost complete sunset. He looked at Dylan and Dylan looked back. Thanks for trying to defend me. It was the intention that was good. Dylan laughed. Yeah, its no problem. Anything for my boyfriend right? Dylan started to laugh but then realized what had come out of his mouth. The two boys sat in silence, for what seemed like a century and a half. Finally, Marco was able to spit out, Wait, what did you say? Dylan started, with hesitation, Ive been kinda thinking about it all night. I really like you Marco. I really want to get to know you better, too. And I really think we could hit it off. So what do ya say....boyfriends? He looked up at Marco, sheepishly. Marco was stunned. He was about to explode with joy inside until the booming shadow of doubt came across him. Could he really fall in love with this man? Then he looked at those sexy curls, amazing blue eyes, and the feelings of that first date, the first time they held hands, and their first kiss and he was sure he wanted to make this exclusive. To answer his question, Marco leaned in, He approached those soft lips slowly, but he could tell both him and Dylan were anxious as hell. Just as their lips would have touched, the unthinkable happened. Marco shifted slightly in his swing and he tumbled to the ground, landing flat on his butt. Dylan only stared for a minute, but then started to chuckle. Oh my god, Marco thought. I want to crawl up and die. He was right there and I screwed it up. Kill me now. Im sorry. I really wanted to be your boyfriend, but I understand. I mean after that...why would you want...I mean Im sorry- but before Marco could finish, he felt Dylans big strong arms envelope him on the ground. His blonde curls tickled his face as their lips meshed together. Their tongues rolled around together and they both melted into one. They had to be there for at least forty-five minutes when they finally left. They held hands the whole way back to drop off Marco. And when Dylan finally dropped Marco off at his house, they exchanged phone numbers and Marco kissed him once again, not caring who was there. Oh yeah, he could definitely be in love with this boy 2006 February 13 www.geocities.com/dylandmarcofics I do not own Degrassi, Marco, etc but this story is an original work. |
