http://www.learner.org/exhibits/renaissance/middleages.html

This is a well made site that talks about how the renaissance is a time of getting away from the Middle Ages and moving forward towards an age of balance and order. First off the renaissance comes forms the French language and means rebirth. This site tells how Europe was in a time of hardships but with the renaissance or rebirth it became economically stagnation and experienced even financial growth. The renaissance also compliments of Gutenberg allowed people to read. Unlike the Middle Ages where there was a book for every 1000 people or so, due to the printing press it allowed people to have more books and got a lot more people literate. Also this site talks about how trade played a big part in the renaissance and economic growth. This is because do to scientist of the renaissance they were able to build better navigational devices for sailors. That is how this site talks about the renaissance enlightenment.

Although not mentioned or talked about to much in class so far William Shakespeare was a great writer of the renaissance. This site depicts him and talks about him, but also other play writers and the renaissance theater itself.  The most famous theater of this time is the one and only Globe Theater. Shakespeare owned it so he could do his magnificent plays out of it. This is because Shakespeare was a great poet. He also wrote many great plays. He used his talent to the fullest and we still even read many of his books today. Also another theater was the Elizabethan theatre. This theater was important because it was the perfect theater of the time. IT had a balcony for Romeo and Juliet Also it had a trap door which was often used as a grave. It was a modern marvel of the time seating 2000-3000 people. Although you might not think that theater is not an enlighten for the renaissance it is. This is because people didn’t even think about going to the theater or were even intelligent enough to go and because it was fun people went to them enlightening the age.

Although doesn’t have pictures (I like pictures in web site it makes it easier to learn.) The fact is it has good information on the enlighten. Also this site is credible being a dot edu so it is quite the information zone. IT ties in with people we are studying as well such as john Locke who was a revolutionary thinker and helped the renaissance in England. Also it talks about the enlightenment even in America and who intellectual leaders would lead people to the enlightenment. This is a good informative site and being credible I would recommend it for any research project you ever do.
