Unsolved problems of the world

I. Ireland

History- in 400 B.C. the Celtic settles in inland and endures Viking invasions from 1016 B.C. to 800 AD. Then king hennery II takes over becoming the ruler of Ireland. In 1534 King Henry the VIII breaks up the Catholic Church causing a religious/ economic split.

Current political state- England broke Ireland up into two parts in 1921 with them getting the north. And today 2/3 of the people is protestant and is living in the north region.

Extermination- the IRA is a Christian radical group that bombs England. The Orange order is a group of people that hate Catholics

Reunification-As of right know there is very little being done to stop the fighting between north and west. I think that this problem would be more like Iraq but since they are on an island secluded from people this problem has been set to the side.

III Pacific Rim/Trade

History- In 1961 the U.S. gave Japan billions of dollars to compensate for the bombing. By 1965 Japan was selling more to the U.S. then they were buying from us.

Trade balance- the trade balance from Japan to U. S. is really good. Unfortunately the taxes are huge from coming from the U.S. going to Japan.

IV. National Debt

National debt vs. deficit-First we must pay off the deficit which I just the interest of the whole debt. Then we can actually pay off the debt so obviously this is going to be a long struggle.

Magnitude of national debt- The magnitude is very bad because people are spending money they don’t have. Even worse the people aren’t even paying back the money they barrowed.

Effects on future- If the Debt stays the same our generation will have to probably pay 60 cents on the dollar to pay off the debt. Also the next generation will have to pay an outstanding number of taxes unless something is done.

VII. AIDS

A basic fact from handouts- The origin of aids is comes from Africa. Where many people are affected by this syndrome. Also AIDS destroys your immune system allowing the common cold to possibly kill you.

Treatment and research- There is no cure but there are drugs that help but the only drug that makes a big difference is AZT. This is a very expensive drug and

History- Came from Africa and originally people only thought that it only affected certain groups. The first case was in 1976 of a female doctor in Zaire.

Causes and prevention- AIDS is an STD and it can also be gotten by sharing needles to prevent this don’t do drugs and farther more don’t have sex with people that don’t know if they have It or not.
