One gigantic problem in the world today is Aids. The problem is not so much in the United States where people have access to drugs and other medication but more in Africa where they are pretty much all third world nations. As a matter of fact many kids that are very young are having to deal with there parents dieing making them orphans at 7, 8, and 9 probably even younger. Also when the parents die and the kids go to live with there relatives making life horrible for the adults. In a nation where it is already impossible to find food they have to serve 3 or 4 more kids makes living a life impossible. Because of this the kids are forced to work, and they have to work hard in order to survive. In 9 of the top ten African countries infected with aids they at least half a million people infected with aids. The problem is outrages especially in the countries of Congo, Ethiopia, and Nigeria where they are just a couple thousand people shy of reaching 1 million people having Aids in that country. Also the sad thing is although the effort has been made to help the people in Africa the medicine is to expensive which basically counts these people as dead once they have the virus. It is being transferred so much cause there are a ton of people sleeping around there which is getting a ton of people infected. Also these people give birth to infected children making this a huge problem. Lastly with numbers only growing and at least 20 million will be infected by 2010, something must be done.

I definitely agree with Katie because the fact is that there is a huge hunger crisis. I can’t even begin to imagine living in Africa not having even eaten for a day and not knowing when my next meal will be. I can’t imagine how these people can even work with so little food and energy in there body. Also in my research I found that last year a drought destroyed a lot of crops last year with no imports in South Africa. South Africa has probably the most shocking number of the people are starving day in and day out. For example in Zambia 2.9 million are starving, but even worse is Zimbabwe where 6.7 million people are starving to death. That is double than any other African nation. The sad thing is, is that the USA basically if you live here compared to Africa you’re a millionaire. The point is we have easy access to food, go to a 7/11 and magically you can get a hot dog and a slurpy for 2 bucks. That’s not going to happen in Africa and its sad  because so little people have access to so much while in Africa and especially a country like Zimbabwe you might be lucky to get a meal or possibly even a bight of food in a day. Also it’s not like there water is pure either. So basically they don’t have any food or water giving them a very hard life to live. Luckily there are groups that are trying to help with the starvation in Africa by trying to give them food and pure water and mostly just helping them out. Hopefully the participation of group will keep up allowing the people of Africa to have some food on the table.
