Journal #5: Find information on the Internet that discusses prison camps during WWI.  Describe the conditions of the camps.  Use freighting, telescoping, and splitting the second strategies so that you "show," not "tell." (My homage to Mrs. Don't Eat-the-paste of your 5th grade experience.)

And there we were, dirt covering us like paint on a wall. I felt like a animal always in search of food, always on the watch for predators, always on the lookout for prey. I thought of myself as a dead man put me in a grave and I would feel at home. Our camp was one in a million. We had boards to protect us from the rain and there was just a place big enough for us to sleep. Mud is everywhere. It rains inches everyday. Camp life is no Boy Scout hike, but it is what we must but we must endure it for our countries freedom.
