WWI military training camps were treacherous. Mustard gas is made out of household products. It is a deadly gas that burns and blisters your skin. It basically makes your skin seem and feel like it’s on fire. Remarque does a good job of depicting mustard gas by giving vivid descriptions about the gas hitting your body and how it feels.
