============================================================================
I. RULES:

     A. Use of cheat codes or turbo play is not allowed.

     B. Use of a "mouse spinner" is okay.

     C. Allow the statistics screen to tic-off and continue recording
for at least 5 seconds after the finish time is displayed.

     D. Please record only one "run" in your lmp. Thousands of players
around the world will watch your entries: they want to see
         successful runs, not the attempts.

     E. Do not "pause" the recording for more than 15 seconds. It is
preferrable that you do not use it at all. (Looking at a
pause game is boring.) Any recording which contains one or
more "pauses" that total more than 15 seconds will be disqualified.

    F. You may record your lmps in versions 1.666, 1.7, 1.7a, 1.8 or
1.9. (Included in the newly released Competition package is a lmp
utility which can change version numbers and player perspective in
        multiplayer lmps: lmput150.zip.)
If you record your lmps in any version other than Doom II v. 1.9,
use LmpUtil to change it to 1.9 before submitting it. (See III.C.1)

    G. Make sure an e-mail address, or other way of making contact, is
provided for each player. When you win, we need to contact you!

    H. The lmp, entry form and zip filename must all have the same name
except for the extension, and use the proper formula.

                           Some examples:

       1 min 9 sec by A Doom God: 01m09adg.lmp, 01m09adg.txt, 01m09adg.zip

59 min 32 sec by Just A Lamer: 59m32jal.lmp, etc.

       2 min 15 sec by 2-player team, We're The Best: 02m15x2w.lmp, etc.

49 min 7 sec by 4-player team, Just Cannon Fodder: 49m07x4f.lmp, etc.

(Please use the form 0x for times less than 10 minutes so that
they will be listed in proper order in the computer directories.)

    I. Submit your entry to one of the places listed in Section VII.

       1. It is best to send it to ftp.cdrom.com. Afterall, the world
wants to see how good you really are!
(You may send your entry to one of the others sites listed in
Section VII if you cannot upload it to ftp.cdrom.com)

       2. Also, please send an e-mail notification of your entry to the
statistician, Jim Elson, at jelson@conline.com, if you have
Internet e-mail access. This will ensure that your entry will be
properly noted in twice-weekly postings of the current standings.
                       (Use NOTIFY.TXT as a template.)

    J. The decision of the judges is final and not subject to appeal. We
hate having to say this, but there are always some who won't follow
the rules and then get upset when they are called on it.

    K. You can submit entries for all categories as many time as you like,
but you will only be eligible to recieve one prize set.

       1. Let's say you are the DoomGod of all DoomGods and you have the
best finish times in 7 out of the 9 solo categories. Your
accomplishment will be noted and proclaimed across the world, but
you will only recieve the prize set for one category. You get to
specify which category you want to recieve the prize set for. In
the other categories, the prize set will be awarded to the
entrant with the next best finish time.

       2. Let's say you have the best finish time in one category and the
second best finish time in another. Again, you are only eligible
to recieve one prize set. You can chose which prize set you wish
to recieve. In the other category, the prize set will be awarded
to the entrant with the next best finish time.

       3. This allows applies to co-op entries. However, you are eligible
to recieve one prize set from the solo categories and one prize
           set from the co-op categories.

    L. Any applicable taxes, tarriffs, and/or any other fees or duties are
the sole responsibility of the winners. Neither any of the sponsors
nor any of those promoting or otherwise associated with the
competition will be held responsible for any damages, liabilities,
torts, legal fees, and/or court costs in any shape or fashion that
may directly or indirectly arise from, during and/or after this
competition. All entrants implicitly agree to this stipulation and
all the other rules by submitting an entry.

    M. Shipping costs of the prizes will be borne by the winners except in
those cases where they are covered by the sponsors.

    N. Your entry must contain an e-mail address at which we can contact
you. If we cannot make e-mail contact with you after the
competition is over, you will forfeit your prize set. All prizes
not claimed by July 1, 1995 will be forfeited.

    O. The competition will end on June 16th, 1995 at 12:00 AM PDT. All
entries must be uploaded to ftp.cdrom.com or one of the other
sites listed in Section IV by June 15,1995 11:59 PM Pacific Daylight
Savings Time. Any entries recieved after this time will be
disqualified. All entries must be "zipped", contain both the
completed lmp_form text file and a single lmp consisting of only
one successful run, and be unzippable without errors to be
considered as a valid entry. All entries recieved prior to official
beginning of the competition, April may be valid entries.

II. CATEGORIES (a total of 11)

    A. Solo (9 total) : fastest time to exit switch alive at skill levels
1 (I'm Too Young to Die), 3 (Hurt Me Plenty) and 4 (Ultra
         Violence) in H2HMud01.wad, H2HMud02.wad, and H2HMud03.wad.

    B. Co-Op (2 total) : 2-player at skill 4 and 4-player at skill 4
         in H2HMudD1.wad.

    C. NOTE: the 01 - 03 wads are also designed for co-op play, but
are not officially part of the competition.)

III. How To Record And Play A Demo

    A. Use the batch files included in H2H-comp.zip

       1. To record, go to your Doom2 directory. At the DOS prompt, type:
(Make sure the batch files, H2HMud wads,
and lmputil.exe are in this directory!)

                              h2h-r x MyDemo y

            (x = 1, 2, or 3: indicates which wad you are playing)
            (y = 1, 3, or 4: indicates the skill level.)
(MyDemo = any name you want for your trial recording)

(*NOTE WELL*: this batch file only records solo play!)

                       Example: h2h-r 01 rule 4

(This will records a lmp of you playing H2HMud01.wad at
Ultra Violence; the name of the lmp will be rule.lmp.)

       2. To playback a lmp, go to your Doom2 directory and type:

                            h2h-p xx CoolDemo

            (xx = 01, 02, 03, or d1: indicates the wad)
(CoolDemo = the name of the lmp you want to watch.)
(*NOTE WELL*: this batch file plays both solo and co-op lmps!)

    B. Use command line arguments:

	  1. You must include wad name in arguments to either play or record.
(NOTE: LMP's can only play back on the wad they were created on.)

Example Commands To Enter In Doom/Doom2 Directory:

			Doom2 -file H2HMud01.wad -record MYDEMO
			Doom2 -file H2HMud01.wad -playdemo MYDEMO

                  (This commands are case insensitive.)

 	  2. Add extra recording time to demo by adding this argument:

-maxdemo 1024 (extends file size up to 1 Meg)

       3. No file name extension is used on either recording and playback.

    C. IMPORTANT NOTES:

       1. LmpUtil and version incompatibilities.

           a. If you try to playback a version 1.9 lmp and you have an
earlier version of Doom II, Doom will drop you back to
DOS and give you an "incompatible version" error message.

           b. LmpUtil.exe will change the version number of lmps for
you. (You can tell which version of Doom II you have
by looking at the top of screen while it is loading.)

           c. Although all the lmps entered MUST be in version 1.9, you
can still enter if you have an earlier version by using
               LmpUtil.  For example, let's say you have version 1.666;
go ahead and record your lmps. When you have a lmp you
want to enter, use LmpUtil to change it to version 1.9.

           d. Example 1, you want to watch a version 1.7 lmp, GreatLmp.lmp,
and you have Doom II v. 1.9. At the DOS prompt, type:

                        LmpUtil GreatLmp.lmp /v 1.9

           e. Example 2, you want to enter a lmp that your recorded and
you have Doom II v. 1.8; let's say you did H2HMud03 on
Ultra Violence in 5 min 10 sec and had named it MyDemo.
At the DOS prompt, you would type:

                     LmpUtil MyDemo.lmp 05m10iii.lmp /v 1.9

                        (iii would be your initials)

          f. Example 3, you want to know what version a lmp is recorded
in and you'd also like to see additional information about
it, like skill level, etc. If the name of the lmp is
NeatDemo.lmp, at the DOS prompt, type:

                    LmpUtil NeatDemo.lmp

       2. Recording Lmps and Reserved Keyboard Keys:

          a. While recording a demo, if you press the "Q" key, it
will end the recording, save the lmp to disk, and drop
you back to DOS. This is hard-coded into the Doom engine
and cannot be changed. Thus, if you try to use GodMode
(IDDQD) while recording a demo, you will be dropped back
to DOS. Also, you will have to remap your keyboard if
you have been using the "Q" key.

          b. There are five other reserved keys that become important during
multi-player games. They are hard-coded into the Doom engine
and cannot be used for movement/actions.

(1). "T": enters chat mode to all players.
(2). "G": enters Private chat mode to Green player.
(3). "I": enters Private chat mode to Indigo player.
(4). "B": enters Private chat mode to Brown player.
(5). "R": enters Private chat mode to Red player.

IV. Please foward all zipped entries to one of the following:

      A. InterNET access: ftp.cdrom.com in /pub/idgames/incoming

          1. Ftp to ftp.cdrom.com.

          2. Change to the /pub/idgames/incoming directory.

          3. Make SURE you are in binary transfer mode.

          4. Send both the zipped file and the lmp_form text file.

Example: you did H2HMud03.wad on UV in 1 min 9 sec and
your name is A Doom God. The name of your zipped file
will be 01m09adg.zip. The zip file will contain both
              01m09adg.lmp (in version 1.9 format) and 01m09adg.txt
(the completed entry form.) The completed entry form,
in this case, 01m09adg.txt, must also be uploaded.

       B. No InterNet access:

                                                                14400, 8/N/1

       Internet's UseNet Doom newsgroups.
