These started out often even more primitive than the ones before, because I actually started figuring things out during the creation of Chambers of Death 1-3 and The Doom Battlefields. I don't even think I figured out doors much on the first one, just a bunch of broken walls, and levels that require you to run and gun but not necessarily be even able to kill everything. Its a hunt for the exit or other switches that operate a series of other bullshit to get to the exit switch. In Nightmares II I started figuring out platforms, switches more, and doors. Nightmares III was like a precursor to Doom Chaos 1-3.
On the subject of Doom Chaos 1-3, the first two were fully mapped out on graph paper and never made, as prequels to one I had been working on that just this year has been renamed to Doom Nightmares 4 (Established now in 2026). It was originally Doom Chaos 3, but there was never a 1 or a 2 for over three decades.
Doom Nightmares 4 uses no ZDoom/GZDoom/UZDoom scripting, as it was also made in 1995, just under a different name as mentioned. It was sheerly vanilla-format DOOM, and though better than its former Nightmares games, it was still pretty bad to the Doom Community. All of these wads, again, are for DOOM 1.
