=                         Installing DOOM                            =

Installation for the shareware version:

If you obtained the shareware version of DOOM from a store, note that
the install procedures could be different from those listed here. When
installing from a store bought version, follow the instructions that
came with the software.

1. If you downloaded DOOM from a BBS or on-line service, you should
	first unzip the files into a temporary directory. Check to make sure 
	you have AT LEAST the following files:
	
	deice.exe 
	install.bat
	doom????.1
	doom????.2
	doom????.dat

	(where ???? = the version number)
	
2. If you have at least those file, you're in good shape, you are
	either missing files, or the version you have does not use our
	install. 

3.	From the temporary directory, type INSTALL at the prompt and 
	press the Enter key.
		
4.	Follow the prompts to create a directory for DOOM and to install
	it on your hard drive.
	
5.	After installation, DOOM will automatically run a Setup program. 
	Follow the prompts to customize DOOM to your specific system.
	Please refer to your hardware manual for information regarding your
	system.

6.	To start DOOM, go to the directory in which you have installed DOOM
	(The default is \DOOM or \DOOMS), type DOOM, and press the enter key.
	If you have finished installation and setup, you are automatically in
	this directory.


Installation for the registered version:

1.	Make a backup copy of your original disks.
 
2.	Put disk #1 in your floppy disk drive and select the appropriate
	drive by typing A: or B:, then press the Enter key.

3.	Type INSTALL at the prompt and press the Enter key.

4.	Follow the prompts to create a directory for DOOM and to install
	it on your hard drive.
	
5.	After installation, DOOM will automatically run a Setup program. 
	Follow the prompts to customize DOOM to your specific system.
	Please refer to your hardware manual for information regarding your
	system.

6.	To start DOOM, go to the directory in which you have installed DOOM
	(The default is \DOOM), type DOOM, and press the enter key. If you
	have finished installation and setup, you are automatically in this
