F-15G AAF WORK-IN-PROGRESS PROJECT

A PROPOSAL TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE CIS FLIGHT SIMULATOR FORUM
-----------------------------------------------------------
F-15G Prototype
Version 1.0 (10/31/92)

Introduction
------------
Why wait until F-15SEIII hits the retail shelves when you can get
one of your own right now -- for free?

Here is a starting model (in prototype format) of the McDonnell
Douglas F-15G strike fighter. The .AFX file contains the "crated"
parts, assemblies, and components required for any redesign. The
secondary .ZIP file (F15READY.ZIP) contains the actual F15G____.SIM
flight model and its companion F15G____. visual model.

Important
---------
Hey, it's just a rough, but it's better than a standing start...

This is by no means a finished product. The work done to date is
only intended to serve as a demonstration of some standard AAF
design/construction techniques. In its present state, the F-15 visual
and flight models are best used as a STARTING POINT for more thorough
detail work and revision.

THIS IS A WORK-IN-PROGRESS IN WHICH EVERY MEMBER OF THE CIS FLIGHT
SIMULATOR FORUM IS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE!

Post your refinements and improvements along with some explanatory
documentation (dated, please) in .ZIP format to the Aircraft &
Adventures library in the Flight Sim forum.

With some good work from all involved, we might end up with a very
nice F-15 model in which everyone can take pride (not to mention
fly to their heart's content).

This project -- and similar ones -- can provide many of us with useful
AAF design tips and ideas while the aircraft itself evolves from rough
to finished form. Best of all, we each end up with a well-designed
final product -- FREE!

Requirements
------------
As I see it, there should be only two iron-clad requirements for this
project:

1) The aircraft should not require AAF in order to load and fly.
...Although, naturally, everyone WORKING on the project will need AAF.

2) The aircraft must, at all times, be fully compatible with multi-player
flight in FS 4.0.

Beyond that, who cares?

It's up to everyone to make the best possible refinements and/or
suggestions regarding the evolving project (even to the point of
junking my original rough and starting from scratch -- hey, I'm not
going to let ego get in the way of something good).

Design Notes
------ -----
For starters, I selected a dark gray "night fighter" color scheme for
the F-15G, but eventually settled on a lighter gray (right off the
assembly line) look. It might be nice to eventually provide several
different variants of the F-15. This would apply not only to colors,
but to externals carried (fuel tanks, ordnance, etc.).

Flight Model
------------
As a starting point, and for compatibility's sake, this quick and
dirty flight model is based directly on the ASD Experimental Jet
Aircraft. There is, however, an excellent F-16C flight model (in
.SIM) format in the CIS Flight Simulation forum which ought to more
closely duplicate the actual roll rate of an F-15.
