Fighter Sweep: Me262's and Me109's
The invasion of Normandy was about
two days ago. Right now you and your
wingman are flying air cover for the
Lehr Panzer division, along with
another flight group of two 262's and
another of two Gustav's. The trip is so
far uneventful. Apparently the
Anglo-American D-Day was a flop, for
there certainly is no air cover. You
tune in to your radio tower.
"Anything yet?", you ask the radar
operator. "No...Oh, mein Gott!", he
says breathlessly. "Thirty blips!"
You stay calm. The radioman is saying
something about Mustangs when your
radio is garbled. A voice speaking
English comes through the radio.
"Hello, Huns!", the voice says
cheerfully, mockingly. "Will you fight
us, or will you go running back to your
Fuhrer with your yellow tails between
your legs?", says he impertinently.
"We've been spoiling for a fight all
afternoon, and we haven't had a single
challenge!", he insists.
You pick up the receiver and say
tensely, "I think you will get what you
want. I have doubts that you will want
it when you get it, fool".
The melee begins.
