      Okay, I'll begin by saying that this game is really fuckin cheesy.
      That aside, it's also pretty fun for a while. The docs put out
      earlier on are not all that helpful. I gathered this after playing
      the game myself and through hearing it from others. So, here are
      some hints and a little helpful material on the game.

      CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT THOSE DAMNED HOUSES???:

      Well, I couldn't either; so, here is a list of what they are by name
      and location on the construnction menus.

      There are, first of all, three parts to the construction menu if you
      click on one of the larger available construction sites (the castle).
      The first menu displays the basic houses. The second and third menus
      provide for larger scale defense, storage, and production. The mines
      menu is fairly self explanatory and is not included here.

      Menu 1
      ~~~~~~
      Upper Left    - Stone Mason's
      Upper Right   - Gaurd house
      Middle Left   - Lumber Jack
      Middle Middle - Forester's house
      Middle Right  - Fisherman's house
      Lower Left    - Windmill
      Lower Middle  - Flag
      Lower Right   - Boatmaker
      Menu 2
      ~~~~~~
      Upper Left    - Butcher Shop
      Upper Right - Blacksmith's Shop (Toolmaker)
      Middle Left   - Iron Foundary
      Middle Right  - Sawmill
      Lower Left    - Bakery
      Lower Right   - Gold Foundary

      Menu 3
      ~~~~~~
      Upper Left    - Lumber Storage
      Upper Right   - Farm
      Middle Left   - Warehouse
      Middle Right  - PigFarm
      Lower Left    - Watch Tower
      Lower Right   - Sm. Castle
      ...howsat??
      Ok, now, how do these relate to each other?  Good question.
      Lumber Construction
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      (Forester) ==> Lumber Jack ==> Sawmill ==> ..on to construction sites
                            		     ==> Lumber storage
				     ==> Storage in Castle/warehouse
				     ==> Boatmaker

      The key to lumber production is to remember a couple of points...
      First, keep your Foresters, Lumberjacks and Sawmills relatively
      close to one another. This will maximize your production.
      Second, be sure to construct your roads wisely around your entire
      kingdom -- and especially around these buildings. If you don't,
      you will have some severe conjestion problems and your wood will
      not make it to construction sites as quickly as it should.

      Third, don't build lumber storage unless you truly have a surplus
      of lumber. If you ignore this one, you'll find that the lumber
      storage building has a priority to fill before your other projects
      are completed. In other words, production will be slowed in favor
      of filling your storage building. You will also find this true to
      an extent with warehouses -- if your roads become overly conjested,
      wood will go into the warehouses rather than to the construction
      sites.

      Fourth, one boatmaker could a kingdom make. Trust me! Playing
      in a size 5 world I have played around with a number of building
      combinations. I managed at one point to gain majority control of
      the map (almost 2/3). By this time, I had constructed 18 of the
      boatmaker's houses... MISTAKE. I had boats stacked 5 and 6 deep
      at all my intersections. I had over a thousand boats. So, don't
      put up more than a couple of these guys unless you are just really
      masochistic about your game play. And realize too that he's making
      these things from lumber that could be used elsewhere...

      Fifth and final, be sure to balance your use of lumberjacks and
      foresters. You might play around with the ratio a bit. But I
      have found that 1 forester per two lumberjacks is about right
      most of the time. Although 3:5 isn't too bad either. Too many
      Foresters is another major mistake. Have you ever been treed to
      death? If you have too many of these guys, you'll never see
      grasslands again!

      The Food Chain
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      Fisherman ==> ..general population
                    ..storage(castle or warehouse
      Farm ==> Windmill ==> Bakery ==> ..general population
             "              ..storage
	   "
	   ==> PigFarm ==> Butcher ==> ..general population
		                                ..storage
      Again, keep your food production chain located closely together.
      The fisherman is fine on his own; but, the other buildings are
      best kept near to each other.  Also, keep in mind that the Regular
      Farm will take up as much room as you let him, so, give him a lot
      of space if you want surplus production(believe me, it's wise).
      Mining
      ~~~~~~

      Gold Mine ==> GoldSmith ==> ..knights
                                  ..storage
      Coal Mine ==> ..fuel for multiple operations
                    ..storage
      Iron Mine ==> IronSmith ==> Construction
                              ==> Blacksmith(toolmaker)
		          ==> ..storage
      Slate Mine ==> Construction
                 ==> ..storage

      Stone Mason ==> Construction
                  ==> ..storage

      Make sure your roads are well constructed. And be sure to put
      your geologist to good use in order to maximize mining production.

      Defense & Expansion
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      The remaining buildings are generally expansionist and defense
      in nature and may be strategically located as you wish.  Towers,
      Small Castles and Gaurd houses should be built near your boarders
      in order to facilitate expansion.  If you don't protect your
      workers, you cannot expand.
      Going to war
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~

      So, you want to kick thy neighbor's ass.. hmm. There is an Icon
      on your utilities menu(Click on the far right Icon at the bottom
      of the screen). The Icon you are looking for is the one of the
      Knight running (lower right). Click on him and you will see another
      menu.

      In the upper portion of the menu is a slide bar. This is the
      proportion of your workforce that you will draft to become knights.
      Below that is the number of knights you may recruit and train.
      This number appears next to the pictures of the sword, shield and
      average bozo. The numbers at the bottom of the screen represent
      how many you have currently recruited of the above available(upper)
      and how many are in training(lower). If you raise the recruiting
      number, the training number will rise (slowly sometimes) as the
      computer selects from amongst the ranks. If you lower the number,
      the computer will re-task your trainees to other jobs.

      -Strategy:

      Besiege your opponent before attempting to lay his castle low.
      If you whittle away at him, it will make the job of taking his
      castle an easier one.

      Concentrate on weakening your opponent by cutting off supply lines
      and attacking storage areas. This will cost your enemy time in
      rebuilding and recovering In which you will be able to weaken him
      more(kick 'em when they're up.. Kick 'em when they're down).

      Look for mountain ranges which your enemy has already tasked his
      geologist out to. This will save you time if you take those
      ranges. And it will significantly set your enemy back while you
      grow.

      Attacking the lowest point in the overall chain can eventually
      prove fatal if your opponent does not yet have sufficient storage
      facilities. Consider this when viewing the stats menus. And
      attack enemy guard huts located near sawmills.

      Well, that's just about it. I hope this little hint sheet helps.
      I could have definitely used one when I first started playing the
      game.  Oh well.  Enjoy!
